Here's a not so fun fact: My first year in college, I rocked a solid 1.8 GPA, which very nearly got me kicked off the Michigan State tennis team. Fast forward to graduation, and I walked away with a 4.0 and was captain of the tennis team. How did I turn things around? By falling in love with the drive to get better every day. If you’re feeling stuck or like it’s too late to turn things around, just remember it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish! #DynamicDrive #MindsetMatters #FinishStrong

Same, freshman to senior year, I won the most improved student award. Starting from the bottom can be a powerful driving force.

That's nothing! My first semester, I flunked math AND Nat Sci. I think I got a 1.5 or 2.0 in ATL. My GPA was .082 or something. It was Animal House level. I can remember re-taking the Nat Sci class, and I had the same professor the next term. As he was passing out the syllabi, he arrived at my desk and said something like "what happened last term?" Somehow, some way, I ended up graduating 4.5 years later. I put my nose the grindstone. Coming from the inner city of Detroit, I just wasn't prepared. I had to deal with just trying to stay alive, and I mean that literally, growing up. But, I made it. And now I'm working on starting my own agave nectar brand. Hopefully, Michigan State will be instrumental with this project and help me get it off the ground.

Molly the AD told me I would fail out of school because I wasn’t as smart as my teammates on the basketball team. I graduated with a 3.3, a full time job during the 08/09 recession and went on to get my MBA and a 4.0😎

That’s funny as I had a similar first semester. Thank God we had a January course to get back on track. I ended up reverse engineering the course load to do my major classes first then get first pick my jr/sr of general classes to get the best professors. It gave me time to study things I was interested in first getting better grades and actually learn how to study for the general classes later!
