It's been a big week for national recognition at SPHPM! We are so delighted to congratulate A/Prof Tori Mar and the ACEMID Team (ACRF Australian Centre of Excellence in Melanoma Imaging and Diagnosis) for taking home a highly prestigious Australian Museum Eureka Prize last night. The Team was awarded the 2024 Aspire Scholarship Eureka Prize for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Scientific Research, recognising their work to improve early detection and build a national targeted melanoma screening program, and harness AI-assisted 3D imaging technologies to conduct the world's largest preventive melanoma study. A special call out also to James Trauer and all of the team in the Epidemiological Modelling Unit who were pipped at the post having been shortlisted for a prize in the Infectious Diseases Research category. Congratulations to Janet Bray - CIA on one of only two successful NHMRC Centres of Research Excellence (CRE) grants awarded to Monash this year. Janet and her team were awarded $3m to address the low survival rates of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by improving the efficacy of the emergency response. This latest CRE builds on a stellar body of work that Janet and others across SPHPM have been building over the last decade to improve outcomes for people who suffer cardiac arrest - tremendously important work! https://lnkd.in/gdew9Nje
