It’s #NationalMilitaryAppreciationMonth. To commemorate my immense appreciation for those who serve, I wanted to recognize one of our remarkable veterans at Lockheed Martin. Meet Jack Cheung. At Lockheed Martin, Jack has worn many hats. He is a senior manager on the Canadian Surface Combatant Program, a critical component of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy to update its surface fleet. Before, he was a program manager for the Army’s Terrestrial Layer System rapid prototyping effort. Jack graduated from two of our prestigious leadership programs. He also holds awards from Asian Engineering organizations and is the Professional Asian American Network Chair. While all of these hats Jack has worn at Lockheed Martin help our customers, I want to talk about another hat. Prior to his time at Lockheed Martin, Jack served eight years in the US Marine Corps and completed two combat tours in Iraq as a Platoon Sergeant. During this appreciation month, remember the hats active service members and veterans wear or have worn, even if you can’t see them like Jack’s in this photo. Remember to thank our brave service members who diligently protect our country to keep us safe. Thank you, Jack, for your service. ##ServingThoseWhoServe #LifeAtLM

Did you know that veterans' experiences are highly sought after in both the civilian sector and in the government? Over 250,000 veterans transition from the military to civilian life every year, bringing with them a unique set of skills and traits that make them valuable assets to employers. Employers have increasingly recognized the value of hiring veterans, and the unemployment rates for veterans are consistently lower than the national average. The skills and attributes cultivated in the military, such as resilience, flexibility, and problem-solving, are highly transferable to civilian roles and are highly sought after by employers. As a former naval aviator and assistant secretary of the U.S. Navy, I can attest to the competitive advantage that veterans bring to the table. Their experiences in the military have equipped them with the necessary skills and adaptability to thrive in the civilian workforce. Let's continue to recognize and support the talent and contributions of our veterans as they transition into new roles. #Veterans #MilitaryTransition #EmploymentOpportunities #HiringVeterans 🇺🇸 #Hashtags #leadership #management #leadershipdevelopment #employeeengagement #leaders #people #leadershipfirst #leadershipfirstquotes #executivesandmanagement #inspiration #giffordthomas #entrepeneurship #governmentcontracting #NavigatingBureaucracy #ContractingChallenges #PublicSectorContracting #contracting #governmentcontractors #government #gsa #governmentContractors #PublicSectorCollaboration #EfficientGovernment #InnovationMatters #ContractorsAtWork #PublicPrivatePartnerships 📌 #unitedstatesgovernment #governmentcontractors #efficiency #collaboration #innovation #publicsector #partnerships #military #drones #uavs #aerospaceanddefense #aerospaceindustry #aerospace #airforce #military #ukraine #technology #techcommunity #pilots #army #pentagon #veterans

Veteran Mythbusters- While speaking to companies about hiring veterans, I've encountered numerous myths about military veterans in the workplace. One such myth is the belief that veterans are inherently foul-mouthed and noisy. It's time to dispel these stereotypes and shed light on the reality of "military bearing" and how it shapes veterans into valuable employees. Military bearing, a cornerstone of military training, instills discipline, respect, and professionalism. It's about maintaining a calm and composed demeanor. Military bearing is the demonstration of confidence, discipline, enthusiasm, and humility in everyday life while on or off duty. Soldiers, and by extension, #veterans, never lose their military bearing just because they are off duty. This training translates into a workforce that is disciplined, adaptable, and capable of handling stressful situations with grace. Employers must look beyond the stereotypes and recognize the immense value veterans can add to their organizations. By understanding the true nature of military bearing and the professional conduct it fosters, we can create more inclusive and effective workplaces. Let's change the narrative and acknowledge the positive contributions of our veteran workforce. #VeteranHiring #MilitaryBearing #WorkforceDevelopment #InclusiveHiring #Leadership *Pictured: Captain Matthew S. I have to concur with Avanulas "Vann" Smiley - the article succinctly summarizes how the experiences of the Ranger add to any organization and our society at large. RLTW! https://lnkd.in/g7VaC6ZJ

"The Ranger Battalion is to be an elite, light and most proficient infantry battalion in the world. A Battalion that can do things with its hands and weapons better than anyone....Wherever the Battalion goes, it must be apparent that it is the best." -GEN Creighton W. Abrams With the 75th Ranger Regiment winning the Best Ranger Competition, the International Best Mortar Competition, the International Best Sniper Competition, and the Army's Best Medic Competition this year, I think it's safe to say they are meeting GEN Abrams' intent quite well. For employers, if you ever have the opportunity to, hire a Ranger. #RLTW

💫 Transition Tip Tuesday 💫 What got you here, won’t get you there. What the hell does that mean? 🤷🏼♂️ It means you could have been super successful in the military but you will likely need to re-invent yourself to be successful in corporate America. Just like what made you a great “Individual Contributor” likely won’t make you a great Manager. Or how you became a rockstar Platoon Sergeant won’t necessarily be how you rock out as a Command Sergeant Major. 🤯 New roles and new industries require new and different skills. Make an assessment, understand your new environment, and become the New You to be successful in your new environment. 😎 Happy Tuesday! #transitioningmilitary #militarytransition #tuesdaytransformation #tuesdaytips #tuesdaythoughts #veteranshelpingveterans #leadershipdevelopment #newbeginnings #newyou

This is how to hold an audience on the edge of their seats..
It’s Day 2 of OpenText F’25 kickoff, and an absolutely fantastic keynote from Col. Nicole Malachowski, USAF (Ret.), the first woman Thunderbird pilot, Fighter Squadron Commander, White House Fellow & Adviser. Incredible inspiration on how elevated teams push the envelope and how the path to success is non-linear. “Nothing of significance ever happens alone.” Thank you Col. Nicole for sharing your journey with OpenTexter’s today.
