Women : ARE YOU INVESTING IN SELF More than a hundred women gathered in the auditorium for the 2024 Women’s Day celebration at SKF, Pune Factory. Sumit Mitra, Director Lubrication & Seals had a novel way of connecting with the folks by evoking the names of luminary women in history who were from Maharashtra. Starting with Ahilyabai Holkar to Leela Poonwala he talked of these great women and their achievements in times when “Diversity and Inclusion” was not in vogue. Soon after was a touching tribute to his mother by Sajid Pathan, the General Secretary of the union – a lady from Solapur region who got herself educated to be a Post Graduate teacher and then went on to be a politician. The theme for the International Women’s Day 2024 is Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress. As I sat listening to the speakers who narrated the achievements of women and connected it with the theme for this year the relevance became evident. Invest in Women and it will Accelerate Progress. There is no doubt in the power of women and it always drives progress in families, society and nation at large. There are numerous examples all around us. But the important question here is – WHO HAS TO INVEST in WOMEN. My premise is that more than anyone else it’s the Woman Herself who has to Believe and Invest in Self. There begins her own progress and she will surely find someone around to invest in her in the journey. Let me enumerate a few critical aspects in which every woman should continuously invest in – · Physical Health & Wellbeing · Knowledge and Skill Enhancement · Managing Money and Investments · Building Healthy Relationships Look around and we will see that in every walk of life Women who invest in themselves, progress and lead to progress in their ecosystem. Investment by others will not lead to real progress but it will only have short term benefits. This Women’s Day my call to all women is – DECIDE TO INVEST IN YOURSELF. #empoweringwomen #leadership #inclusion #progress #diversity #womenatwork

Women in Indian Manufacturing: Pioneers of Progress 🏭🌟 In the early days of Indian manufacturing, women were the backbone of small-scale enterprises. As society shifted towards industrialization, these hardworking women transitioned to the manufacturing sector, breaking gender stereotypes along the way. They excelled in textile, FMCG, and digital manufacturing, and today, more women are entering manufacturing as entrepreneurs, managers, engineers, and leaders. However, challenges remain, with many women leaving the workforce and limited leadership representation. To empower women, mentorship and support are essential. Let's celebrate these resilient women who drive India's economic growth, recognizing that their contribution is crucial for a more equitable and prosperous nation. #WomenInManufacturing #Empowerment #IndiaGrowth

Companies in the manufacturing sector are looking to increase gender diversity in their workforce driven by advantages like less attrition and creating a positive and productive work environment, report Ishita Ayan Dutt, Shine Jacob, and Sohini Das for Business Standard. 🚙 At Tata Motors' shop floors, 13% of the workforce and 23% of hires are women. The company aims to increase the share of women on shop floors to 25% in the future. At Tata Steel, 7.5% of the workforce on the shop floor as of September 2023 are women. 🏭 Women manage some of the production lines at JSW Steel facilities. Almost 6% of the company's workforce comprises women — a number they're looking to increase to 15% by 2030. 👩🏭 ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has doubled the percentage of women on its shop floor over the last four years, while Anand Group's shop floor consists of 20% women. The latter plans to grow this number to 30% by 2025. 🚛 Ashok Leyland has an all-women production line in Tamil Nadu, while Ola Electric's Future Factory workforce comprises of only women. Deloitte's Blue Collar Workforce Trends Report 2023 — which covers 104 organisations and 300 manufacturing units — states that the female blue-collar workforce participation stands at 8%. This is an increase of 2% over the last couple of decades. Sectors leading in gender diversity ratios are life sciences, automotive, and engineering design, driven by their high degree of automation, skilled talent requirement, and premium pay, adds the report. In today's world, gender equality and diversity have become central pillars of social progress and economic development. At Forbes Facility Services, we are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all, regardless of gender. We firmly believe that skills and dedication should be the primary factors in hiring decisions. As a result, we have women working side by side with their male colleagues at our industrial client sites across the country. Women working in industrial housekeeping often bring an innate attention to detail, ensuring that every corner is cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. This meticulous approach has greatly contributed to the overall quality of our services and enhanced the cleanliness and safety of our client sites. To ensure that our female employees are on an equal footing with their male counterparts, we offer comprehensive training programs. These programs focus on safety procedures, equipment and machine operation, and effective communication, among other critical skills. We have seen incredible progress as women employees gain confidence and expertise in their roles, proving their capabilities in the field. Gender equality is not just an aspiration but a reality we are actively creating in the world of industrial housekeeping. #GenderDiversity #womenatwork #womenempowerment #diversity

Today, I had the privilege to attend a panel discussion hosted by Indian Institute of Foreign Trade as part of the IIFT Annual Economics Conclave 2024. The discussion centered on the theme "From Ballot Box to Boardroom: Empowering Women's Political and Economic Empowerment," aiming to emphasize the intricate relationship between women's political engagement and economic advancement. I extend my gratitude to IIFT KOLKATA for organizing this enlightening event and to Anooshka Soham Bathwal Ma'am for providing me with this enriching opportunity. Here are a few key takeaways that resonated with me: ▪️The discussion emphasized the distinction between inclusivity and empowerment concerning women's involvement in both political and corporate spheres. While many organizations may boast inclusive environments, true empowerment involves providing women with managerial roles, ensuring a safe workplace, and offering equitable pay. ▪️It's inspiring to witness women shattering stereotypes in traditionally male-dominated industries such as Investment and Mining. ▪️The panel delved into the journey women undertake from the voting booth to the boardroom, discussing the challenges and transitions they encounter along the way. ▪️Important issues faced by women in their professional paths were highlighted, along with potential strategies for addressing these challenges. Attending this insightful event with, having such remarkable women as panelists was truly a rewarding experience #womenempowerment #paneldiscussion #IIFT #IIFTKolkata #Indianinstituteofforeigntrade

Pidge is proud to have been a part of a crucial stakeholder consultation by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) regarding “Enabling Women Workforce Participation in Logistics Sector”, chaired by Mr. Rajeev Singh Thakur, Additional Secretary, DPIIT. There is massive untapped potential for women to grow within the logistics industry, and the consultation centered upon initiatives that can be taken to enable this change. At Pidge, we strongly believe that a larger women-led workforce leads to not just a more efficient workplace, but also lays the foundation for India's future which would remain true to its cultural ethos - that of inclusivity, diversity and equity. While the consultation offered pan-industry insights on the possibilities of building such an ecosystem, at Pidge, we aim to take the pledge to bridge this gap with conscious efforts such as inclusive hiring, skill-training, and building aspiration associated with the logistics industry by placing more women in leadership roles. Our sincerest thanks to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India for initiating this important conversation and allowing us to contribute to it. Here's to looking forward to a woman-first future! #futureisfemale #logistics #womeninlogistics #dpiit #ministryofcommerce #logisticstech #logisticsSaaS #womenworkforce #womenatwork
