Our #HHSMontcoPA Office of Senior Services (OSS) is proud to participate in SAGECare credentialing as part of our ongoing commitment to serving LGBTQ+ older adults. SAGECare is a cultural competency training program for: Skilled nursing facilities Health care organizations Assisted living communities Hospice and palliative care Long-term care communities Home health providers Anyone providing services to older adults When surveyed, 9 out of 10 individuals in the LGBTQ+ community feared discrimination in care settings if providers knew their sexual orientation or gender identity. These trainings help service providers create more LGBTQ+-welcoming organizations, and obtaining credentials help LGBTQ+ people find those trained providers. All staff of OSS completed requisite training in order to establish that credential. In the fall of 2024, we anticipate renewing our credential and leveling up to Platinum Credentialing.
