Settlement of US college athletics antitrust cases creates a $2.8 billion bill and enables Division 1 athletes to be paid up to $20 million a year each. The increased expenses are credit negative for the sector, as smaller colleges will lose out while others benefit. And declining student numbers will pose additional challenges for many smaller institutions. Listen here: https://mdy.link/3VZCcOM #Podcast #MoodysTalks

Should schools be paying college athletes? It’s become such a hot topic that it's starting to be covered by media outlets that don't often cover sports. For example: the NPR podcast The Indicator, from the same people who make the Planet Money podcast. NPR 's labor reporter Andrea Hsu interviewed Brandon Copeland--a former NFL player, financial literacy expert, and the CEO of our client Athletes.org.--for The Indicator episode that came out yesterday. #sports #labor #sportsindustry #sportsbusiness #sportsbiz #media #news #money #change #collegesanduniversities #sportsmarketing #strategiccommunications #communications #linkedinsports #finance #radio #podcasts #delsohnstrategies https://lnkd.in/g3VFBWjv

New podcast! Graham Smith joins for a two-part podcast - in Part 2, we start the process of ranking the greatest players in National Basketball Association (NBA) history into tiers. In this episode, we start by establishing 3 tiers for who we consider to be the top 10 players, lay the groundwork for the dozens of players who will likely end up tiers 4-8, and then speculate where legendary players who are still active will end up when all is said and done. The idea is that within each tier we could argue endlessly about which player is better, but from tier to tier there is some differential, no matter how minor, that separates the players in one tier from the players in the next tier. Although we discussed where some active players might end up, we did not officially rank them as part of this exercise and we will not until their career is complete. TIER 1: Michael Jordan TIER 2: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell TIER 3: Kobe Bryant, Wilt Chamberlain, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal https://lnkd.in/gYMpjuDg #NBA #basketball #podcast #legends #tiers #rankings
