THOUGHTS ON DATA CENTERS: In a town not too far, where the power lines hum, A debate stirs the air, with a buzz and a thrum. "Economic developers," they say with a frown, "Fear data centers will bring our power down. They use so much juice, without hiring a soul, How can this, for our town, be a beneficial role?" But here’s a tale, in the simplest of rhymes, To explain how power usage changes with times. Imagine our town, with power so bright, Attracts a big center, that uses it day and night. Yes, they use lots of power, but here's the twist, Their demand for energy cannot be dismissed. For by using the power, they start a chain reaction, Creating a demand, that leads to more action. Other businesses see, and they start to think, "If they can get power, then we won't sink!" So they come to our town, bringing jobs and more, And suddenly our town is not quiet as before. The power used by the center, so big and so bold, Encourages more supply, more energy to hold. And with this new demand, supply chains grow strong, Bringing more jobs and workers, all coming along. So, though it seems at first, the center takes too much, It actually starts a cycle, with a gentle touch. Attracting more power, more jobs, and delight, Turning our town into a beacon of light.
