Technician Spotlight: Roger M. How did you start working in the maintenance industry? In high school, I took a couple of classes in this field, and after joining the military, I have been working in maintenance ever since. What do you enjoy about your shop or working at MF? I appreciate the team cohesion and how we come together as a family to solve problems on a piece of equipment. What advice do you have for a new employee? Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially if you don't know the answer. Many people are afraid to ask questions, but it's the biggest thing to learn. What do you wish others knew about what it's like to be a technician? I wish people knew that there is a distinction between a technician and a mechanic. A technician is capable of diagnosing a technical issue and resolving it, whereas a mechanic is typically given a solution to repair what's in front of them. What are your future goals? I aspire to become a Trailer Manager while also gaining more knowledge in the diesel side, so that I can provide support for both the trailer and tractor. This cross-training will help me be a better leader and an essential part of the team.

It’s interesting to me… Ive always believed that being in aircraft maintenance is relatively easy…. You get your task card/paerwork, you go get your parts and the right qualified Engineer/ Mechanic etc. and bingo..Job done! Then why oh why do companies continue to have the wrong perwork?, the part is in the wrong location? and the Engineer is not on shift!!!! The fact is that all of this is completely avoided with proper Planning. In addition it is vital that ALL of the support departments, focus on what is actually the end product. You know, the one that makes the money to pay the wages. If what you are doing does not contribute to the final product, then why are you doing it and why do companies accept it.

Ok, now we got inside the very complex organization in roll of aircraft maintenance . Planning, suppose to bring all package to perform tasks such as paper( AMM, IPC, etc), parts ( aircraft parts, oils , etc) and special tools ( special tools, torque wrenches, etc). All this suppose to be on box, plastic bag, etc for the aircraft engineers working immediately on tasks. This is heaven, but the reality we face everyday the hell, because wrong parts, wrong tools or not exists, then the engineers past more time to justified why they didn’t the work on meadle on papers. That waste time is money thrown away. There is a lot to do, department needs to focus on final objective, product, the good health of aircraft .

So glad that this #sausagefillingmachine is ready to ship out to our customer site. Unfortunately our worker has found out little problem in our machine after trial operation.
