Oracle and Microsoft just announced the expansion of our existing partnership to deliver Oracle database services running on OCI, colocated in Microsoft datacenters. Azure customers will be able to procure, deploy, and use the new offering, Oracle Database@Azure, natively within Azure.
What is the offering?
• Oracle will be placing Oracle database services on OCI inside Azure datacenters, on Oracle hardware managed by Oracle.
• Azure customers will be able to buy OCI Database services from the Azure Marketplace and use them in Azure.
• Azure customers will be able to apply such purchases to their Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC).
• Microsoft will pay Oracle for OCI Database services used inside Azure.
• Microsoft sales teams will be able to sell OCI Database services, similar to how they are with Azure.
Most customers rely on Oracle Databases for their mission critical applications. Many of these customers are invested in Azure and are looking to leverage the best of each cloud for their workloads. This offering delivers on that customer need while leveraging the existing relationships and contracts with customers, including their existing MACC investments, further simplifying some of the purchasing and operational challenges these customers face.
