As the developer of the Rail Active Crossing System (RAXS) technology being trialled at Quirindi, we are proud to contribute to enhancing safety at railway level crossings. The implementation of this system is vital because it addresses a critical gap in railway safety; by providing dynamic alerts to motorists, we significantly increase their awareness and encourage compliance with road safety signals. Given that trains can’t swerve, it’s essential that motorists heed warnings near railway crossings. If successful, this trial could serve as a model for future level crossing upgrades in rural and remote settings across New South Wales and beyond. We believe this technology not only enhances safety but also represents a cost-effective approach that can be quickly deployed in those areas where traditional treatments aren’t feasible. Our goal is to save lives and prevent accidents by ensuring that every motorist is informed and alert as they approach these critical junctions. We are committed to working closely with Transport for NSW and the federal government to assess the outcomes of this trial and to promote safer level crossings for everyone. #LevelCrossingSafety #RailSafety #RAXS #RailTechnology #ObeytheSigns #
When driving, it’s critically important to stay alert near railways. Trains can’t swerve. That’s why we’re trialling new technology in partnership with the Australian Government and Transport for NSW to turn passive level crossings into active sites. The trial will be run at Quirindi in NSW using wireless train-activated technology to trigger flashing lights and advance warning signage for motorists. If successful, it could transform level crossing upgrades in future. 🚦 Innovating Road Safety: The Helmet-Synced Traffic Light Concept! 🛵👷♂️ No helmet? No green light! 😳 A recent viral video showcases a traffic light in Argentina that allegedly stays red unless all motorcycle riders are wearing helmets. 🚦👏 While authenticity remains unverified, the concept sparks fascinating discussions on innovative ways to enhance road safety. 🌐 Embracing Innovation: Even if the video proves to be edited or speculative, the idea of integrating technology to promote safety awareness is commendable. It challenges us to think creatively about leveraging innovations to enforce responsible behavior on the roads. 💡 What if our traffic systems could actively encourage and reward safety measures? 🤔 Let's keep pushing the boundaries of innovation to create safer, smarter cities for everyone. 🌆🚀 #innovation #roadsafety #techconcepts #futureoftransportation https://lnkd.in/e3Q2eEEb

A moment of distraction can change your life forever. Today marks the start of Rail Safety Week. This shocking footage is why it’s so important to stay safe on and around light rail, whether we’re passengers, pedestrians, cyclists or motorists. Light rail has become part of the daily commute of many Canberrans, which is why it’s important we’re all aware of our personal responsibilities in ensuring the safety of ourselves and others. To stay rail safe, remember to: • Always stand behind the yellow line at light rail platforms • Only cross at designated walkways, and limit distractions such as mobile phones and headphones • Obey traffic lights and road signs • Be aware of intersections and road line markings when driving near the tracks Find out more: https://bit.ly/3A5O8aD

⚠️ Stand Back. Look Up. Stay Rail Safe. ⚠️ A moment of distraction can change your life forever, so when travelling on or around rail: 📵 Turn down distractions. 🎧 Take off your headphones & look up from your phone. 🚷 Look up & stand behind the gate at pedestrian crossings. 🚧 Stand behind the yellow line. 🤝 Hold onto handrails. Level Crossing Safety 🚫 Trains can’t swerve & can take up to 14 football fields to stop. Don’t try to beat a train; ensure there is enough time for you to safely cross tracks. 🚶 For pedestrians, look up from your phone, take off your headphones and stand behind the gate. 🚗 For motorists, always ensure there is enough space for your vehicle on the other side of a level crossing before making the decision to cross. Tram/light rail safety 🚘 Road users – always check blind spots – particularly to your right – before crossing light rail tracks. Give trams some space & take care when you drive around them. 🚶 Pedestrians – be aware of your surroundings. Take off your headphones and look up from your mobile phone when walking around trams or across light rail tracks. 🚶 Passengers – always look to make sure the road is clear when exiting a tram at a kerbside stop. Traffic engineers often prove that nothing is impossible when it comes to solving transportation issues. Just consider the junction on York Road: here, you can observe U-turns, bus turns, staggered turns, and phased turns, all smoothly coordinated. This efficiency is a testament to effective traffic signalling and drivers comprehending the rules. Without this junction, we would likely have to spend millions on alternative, non-level crossing approaches. #Transportation #Traffic #Staggeredjunction #Intersectiondesign #Buslane #Publictransport #Guidedbus #Trafficlight #Trafficmanagement #Transportplanning #Transporteconomics
