🎉 Nixa received the rankings from US News on our junior high, intermediate, and elementary schools. We are excited that all of our schools placed in the top 20% in the state, and many are in the top 3%. 🦅 Nixa Junior High is the #5 middle school in the state of Missouri and was the second highest in the Springfield metro behind Central High School's magnet program. Mathews Elementary was the top elementary school in the Springfield metro area. 👏 These results continue to show how Nixa is one of the elite districts in the state of Missouri. Excerpts from “The Little Book of Big Reasons to Homeschool.” (2007) by Kim and David D'Escoto “Once commonplace, American homeschooling dwindled to near-extinction by the mid-1970s. By the late 1970s, 99 percent of school-aged children were attending institutional classroom schools” (pp. 8-9). “Reasons are usually a combination of proactive and reactive ones, such as providing richer academic experience, minimizing negative social settings, and meeting the special learning needs of their children. By far, the strongest conviction shared by parents is that of instilling in children their faith and values” (p. 9). “Approximately 90 percent of homeschooling families in the United States are Christians” (p. 9). “Home education is an opportunity for parents to reclaim the role of discipling children, teaching them to shine in the midst of darkness. It can be looked at as a spiritual revival, a wake-up call to a land in serious moral decline” (p. 10). “One of the biggest benefits to homeschooling is being able to put aside ineffective ‘schoolish ways’ and take a more successful, individualized approach to learning” (pp. 13-14).

Closing the Gap One of the most pressing issues facing the American education system is the achievement gap between special education students and their peers. One important approach for addressing these challenges is to focus on early intervention and support in the classroom. Additionally, it is important to ensure that special education students are included in mainstream classrooms and have access to the same resources and opportunities as their peers. Another important factor is ensuring that teachers are properly trained and supported in working with special education students. This means providing ongoing professional development opportunities.
