https://lnkd.in/gjMtV68u - In a disease (#IPF) that is considered largely a disease of the older (> 60-65 years), #White population (> 80%), for years it never made sense to me why my first #Black patient with IPF got this disease at age 39!!!. For years, I second guessed myself, all prior evaluations, and the biopsy reports. Now, along comes this groundbreaking paper by Dr. Ayodeji Adegunsoye MD FACP FCCP who found that Black patients suffered the same disease when younger and died younger. Appreciate this data and the learning. Also, appreciate the learnings from our very own Olugbemiga Jegede, MD, MHA, CPE, FACP, FAAPL, FACHE - here at Cone Health - who is really challenging us to think and behave differently in reducing disparities in health care. #pulmonaryfibrosis (#IPF).
