CFES Brilliant Pathways is an incredible organization. Their conference this past week offered fresh perspective for me as a member of the higher ed community. While CFES focuses on K-12 education, their work greatly impacts those of us who work in and with colleges and universities. The challenges and attitudes of the next generation will inevitably shape higher education in the years to come. One of my favorite things about the conference? Students! There were over 100 high schoolers present at the event. It created an entirely different, and welcome, dynamic. Higher ed leaders: what questions do you have for the next generation of learners? #highereducation #learnalways #educationalleadership #highereducationleadership

How can higher education foundations and institutions improve value? Jeff Selingo shared his research-based advice to AGB Foundation Leadership Forum attendees: 1. Lean into skills to renew the value of the degree. Research shows that the biggest wage premiums come from foundational skills like influencing and project management. 2. Improve the student experience. Higher education can be a complicated maze for many students. Break down those silos at your institution and concentrate on student mentorship and personal feedback. 3. Prepare for a new learning economy. Our economy needs life-long learners. Boards and institutions need to be prepared to support multiple generations of learners through collaboration with other institutions and with external partners. Jeff is pictured here with David Bass, AGB Executive Director, Philanthropic Governance, Cristin Toutsi Grigos, AGB Senior Vice President and Chief Content & Program Officer, and Ross Mugler, Vice Chair, AGB Board of Directors.

As California continues to move towards fully expanding Universal #TransitionalKindergarten (#UTK) by 2026, a major part of this effort is recruiting candidates and preparing the workforce. While much of the focus is on ensuring teachers have the required Multiple Subject credential and 24 units of #EarlyChildhoodEducation and/or #ChildDevelopment for lead TK teachers, some Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) in California are engaged in complementary efforts aimed at preparing this workforce by way of professional learning. One example is the UTK Leadership Initiative created by the 21st Century California School Leadership Academy (21CSLA) State Center – a collaboration between UC Berkeley School of Education, the UCLA School of Education, and the California Subject Matter Project. At All Means All, we are dedicated to transforming outcomes for students with disabilities and other intersectional identities that have been historically marginalized. We start by partnering with school leaders to thoroughly analyze and disaggregate historical data and then build inclusive and ambitious goals to address disparities. Leaders develop plans through our multiple learning cycles that draw on adult leadership skills and practical tools to target specific areas of disproportionality such as reading, math, post-secondary success, or social-emotional growth. This creates a proof point, demonstrating what is possible and generating momentum to continue eliminating disparities beyond the program. Join us for our fourth cohort as we work toward more inclusive, supportive learning environments where all students can thrive academically and socially. 🌟 Apply Here: https://lnkd.in/gQhAz_25 🌟 📈 Check Out Our Results: https://lnkd.in/gSZQGq3R 📊
