Co-Movement Gym Newsletter Longevity Series #3: So far, we have discussed the importance of grip strength, and the farmers carry exercise in relationship to longevity. Today I want to discuss VO2 max. VO2 max is the maximum or optimum rate at which the heart, lungs, and muscles can effectively use oxygen during exercise, think aerobic capacity, or in the simplest terms "cardio". From a real-life perspective, imagine climbing 5 flights of stairs quickly. What would your heart rate be? Is it easy? hard? How quickly does your heart rate drop after completing this? Could you go 20 flights? Your V02 max score is perhaps the single most powerful marker for longevity according to Dr. Peter Attia and many other longevity experts. Obtaining an accurate VO2 max score is a valuable metric that allows you to see where your current aerobic capacity is and gives you a baseline to improve on. For example: a 50-year-old female with a score of 36 would be considered "High" (on a scale of Low, Below Average, Above Average, High and Elite). A 20-year-old male that scores 42 would be "below average". Obtaining an official VO2 max score is quite difficult as very few facilities have the capabilities, knowledge and technology to test this. 5 of us were lucky enough to have the official test done at our facility (Co-Movement) with Dr. Steven Geanopulos. Good news, we are working on bringing this testing tool to our facility in the future. There are somewhat accurate methods of estimating your VO2 max without taking the official test. They are the 12 min Cooper run test, the 2k row test and the 1 mile walk test. These are ROUGH estimates. (there are others I'm sure) Improving your VO2 max can be done at any age but it's recommended to have proper programming and an assessment done by a professional coach. This is a post about my personal achievement. 🏆 Yesterday, like any other usual day, I walked into my Curefit - house of cult class. However, something unusual happened: I saw my name on the screen celebrating #milestones. Instantly, it made me smile and feel proud of my #consistency. 🤩 🤩 I enrolled in Cult class last year. In today's era of cutthroat competition, physical exercise is not just an option but a necessity for mental health and overall fitness. When I signed up for Cult last year, I struggled with consistency due to being out of practice for a long time and often prioritized fitness second. However, unlike previous years, I resolved to remain consistent this time, and I didn’t fail. Fitness has now become an indispensable routine and has evolved into a good habit. 💪 Beyond my personal joy, I'd like to share a bit of my experience with Curefit - house of cult. Since joining, I’ve become a fan of their phygital experience. I know there's a lot of business motivation, customer acquisition tactics, and more involved, but nevertheless Curefit - house of cult truly understands the importance of good service design and customer experience. 🤜 🤛 Seeing my name on the screen and sharing it with others not only personalizes the experience but also helps me maintain #consistency, ultimately making me a #loyal customer. 🏃♂️ To anyone reading this and second-guessing their fitness decision, you're just one step away from making a guilt-free choice.
