It has been suggested to me that Bill Shorten and his corporate allies may be planning to reduce the monthly fees for NDIS Plan Managers. While this may initially sound like a bad way to save money for the NDIS, it also raises significant concerns about the potential impact on smaller plan managers. Cutting plan management fees could make it difficult for smaller providers to stay afloat, potentially leading to market consolidation dominated by big players. This could limit choices for NDIS participants and lead to a consolidation of PM into corporate hands. While efficiency and cost-saving measures are important, it's crucial to ensure that service quality and participant satisfaction remain a top priority. Auscare Support is deeply concerned that this may be the next phase of Shorten's attack on the intermediaries space. It's important to ask Bill Shorten about his plan to address these concerns. Let's talk about the latest NDIS quarterly report for the December 2023 quarter. The numbers clearly outline the continued importance of the Plan Manager role, with a majority (62%) of Participants choosing this funding method for the flexibility and reduced administration.However, the number of Plan Management providers is not keeping pace with the growth in Participants. The NDIS Review recommendations, PACE rollout, and lack of remuneration increase are all contributing factors to this situation. At Credability Systems, we strongly believe in the importance of the Plan Management role as a vital support and method of financial oversight for the scheme. 🗣 "We asked for support, the inspector said they can't offer us support" - Early Years Professional There are many flaws in the current system. I understand why Ofsted can't advise (e.g they can't show bias to particular way of doing something) but ultimately there is a bigger issue that is not being addressed in the first place! 😔 The support and guidance for our early years community from those who 'make the rules' - is simply not good enough. I never want another wonderful setting to be graded 'requires improvement' or 'inadequate' because they were not given enough support beforehand to understand the EYFS requirements, breaking down what they actually mean or not know about how the inspection handbook works. 😥 I've just booked in another early years setting to go and deliver my gentle and nurturing mock inspection 🙏🏻 I will give them support and advice based on their individual needs. I will make sure they are meeting the EYFS requirements and fully deep dive, so when Ofsted do visit, there won't be any breaches which could ultimately bring down their grade. The setting I was with last week said: "This is exactly why we got you here Jamie, so we could find out all of these things and make sure we have everything in place for the real thing". I stayed with them for just over 10 hours giving as much help and support as I could, plus a very detailed report and follow-up call.
