What a powerful story. Having worked with many non verbal students I can see how it can become too easy not to acknowledge vocalisations, body language like eye contact, small gestures and micro changes in someones presentation. Communication is complex it's our role just as it was Dave's to be responsive to people and acknowledge these moments in everyday interactions. There's nothing more powerful when you see the connection with someone when you enter their world through intensive interaction and they feel heard. #communicationmatters

Powerful reminder to always engage your heart not just your mind when supporting people and interacting with others. Data can only help you understand a bit of the story someone is trying to tell you
