Born on April 1, 1967, in the picturesque village of Yasin, Tehsil, Ghazar district, Lalak Jan overcame economic hardships and emerged as a remarkable soldier in the Northern Light Infantry.

Cheerfulness in the face of adversity. One of the key values, otherwise know as a spirit, which I still live by from the Royal Marines, is cheerfulness in the face of adversity. This value has stuck with me from day one of training, through to this very day. It allows me to check myself and just ‘try’ to see the humour in a situation, no matter how bad it is. I don’t mean laughing in hysterics every time something bad happens. But more finding opportunities to find a glimmer of positive hope during challenging moments. I can’t tell you how many dark moments I’ve been through, where I’ve turned to the left or right and seen a fellow marine staring back with a grin on their face. Usually covered in mud. In busines, it is slightly different. Marines have a unique way of thinking that isn’t all to common in civvie street. But I always, even if on my own, try to find ways to humour myself, when faced with difficulty or challenge. Whatever path or journey you’re on, being able to find the positives or humour in each situation you face can make a world of difference to the outcome. #mindset #cheerfullness #values #royalmarines
