Local Government Association's 100 offers to the new government. Including codifying the Council of Europe's Charter of Local Self-Government. This would give clear and irrevocable power to local government and communities, enshrining the principles of localism in law. It would give local government in England a measure of constitutional protection that is common in other democracies.

More transparency around the Commission's decision would be good, and the Ombudsman is asking the right questions here. But the Council remains the most opaque institution and seems to get away with it. It's one thing to argue that governments need to be able to negotiate in secret, but that doesn't explain why the secretariat should make it hard to track even just the status of files. #EU #transparency
We have opened an inquiry into European Commission's decision to remove the contact details of staff below head of unit level from the EU 'Whoiswho' online directory. ℹ️ The complainant, a civil society organisation, raises concerns about the impact of the decision on accountability and the ability of the public and civil society groups without sufficient resources to have access to the Commission, for example when providing input on policy to the appropriate sections of the Commission or inviting the appropriate staff members to events.
