This caption brought tears to my eyes. It reinforces that we should do what we are doing,(especially those things we feel passionate about) because we never know who we may be positively impacting. On a day like today when I was feeling incredibly discouraged and deflated, I NEEDED to hear this more than Natalee Harrigan BSc IDipNEBOSH could ever have known when she posted her heartfelt thoughts. I am grateful to even have been invited me to share on this topic. Be sure to check out the video and her series on Youtube "Stories on Safety" as she shares valuable insight on the area of occupational safety. @hr #hrcommunity #employment #employers #employmentlaw #occupationalhealthandsafety #occupationalhealth
When I first started posting occupational health and safety content on social media (Instagram @safeyfirstlady) I thought to myself, why am I even doing this? Will people care? No one else does stuff like this. Then shortly after, I stumbled upon the videos of Michelle Russell, Attorney-at-Law. I was drawn in. Michelle M. Russell who specialises in employment law gives such passionate and valuable perspectives, which are supported by her 20 years of experience. Little did I know, that a short 5 months later, I would invite her to sitdown with me on camera for a chat and she would agree. I am inviting you to watch (or play in the background as you do something else), Episode 2 of Stories of Safety - produced in collaboration with the Safety Supply Co. It will be 20 mins well spent.

#KTA values #safety. It's why we promote #safedriving behaviors and frequently join other #transportation safety advocates for #awarenesscampaigns. Today is such a day. It's national Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day, a day aimed at spreading awareness of safe driving to reduce #trafficfatalities. To recognize this day, KTA announces the #winners of our 2023 #Teen #VideoContest, whose goal is to help instill safe driving behaviors in #teens during their formative years. See who won and watch their #videos: https://lnkd.in/gutiwUxM KTA also partnered with Burns & McDonnell on a video for their "What Drives Us" series. The series shares short and powerful messages about how safety issues impact real people every day. Take a moment to watch KTA's Incident Management Center's Assistant Supervisor Maymee Green-Phillips talk about how #speeding personally impacts her and her family. https://lnkd.in/gEy2NqKy #PTBOFD #safety #SafetyFirst

If you're a straggler, like me, don't feel bad about it-- you've still got one good day left to submit to speak at American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) SAFETY 2024 in Denver, CO. In fact, if you're someone who needs a push, I politely INSIST you submit, especially if you think you are not good enough. You have something to say, something that will help other #safetyprofessionals get better at their work. I'll link to the submission page in the first comment! YOU CAN DO IT👍

This is a no-brainer. Unfortunately, most people in safe, rich, countries have zero idea what it means to truly be unsafe on a daily basis. Safety is a personal responsibility. Any group saying they can keep you completely safe are lying to you. And your ability to assess, analyze and respond to threats in your environment depends upon your freedom to act as needed to protect yourself. As we say in Violence Management - when seconds count, help is just minutes away. You are your first line of defense.
As Ben Franklin said, "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
