🗣 The number one skill employers look for in new employees—across all industries—is communication. A communications degree can be a great ticket to a good-paying job in public relations. If you're a college graduate with a degree in communications, these are just some of the entry-level public relations jobs you’ll be qualified to fill: 1. Research analyst. Whether for political organizations or private companies, public relations and marketing campaigns rely heavily on research to identify and target the appropriate audience. A research analyst gathers and organizes relevant data for the campaign managers so they can make informed decisions. - Copywriter. Copywriters are highly sought after in the PR industry. A copywriter is someone who writes professional documents and marketing materials. In public relations, copywriters often write news releases, blog posts, social media posts, and website content. PRs require strong skills in: → Sales → Copy writing → Pitching → Communication → Research → Social listening → Admin → Relationship building If you want to master one skill, or one area, do that There's room for both types of people #PR #PRfreelancer

Why should I hire you? If the prospect, interviewer, or just about anybody asks you this… What would you say? Do you have an answer ready? The thing is… We go in so hard and try to outshine others in the process… …that we sometimes forget what makes us unique. If you think the answer should be "experience", your "desire" to help them… …or just the fact that you’re a copywriter… Who “crafts compelling words”, then let me tell you something… People want more than just a copywriter…they want a “team player”… Someone who’s easy to work with, someone who can be fun to work with. So, instead of “hard” selling your expertise, also focus on your soft skills. Show them that you have the right attitude, the kind they’re looking for. Don’t get me wrong, you still need to have the relevant copywriting experience… But if you show them you’re a charm to work with as a bonus… I’m certain it will help you outshine others in the hiring process.

If I were interviewing someone for a PR job right now, here are a few things I’d ask: -What media outlets do you read every day? -What influencers and media would you target if you got the job? -Which companies are doing PR right + what recent work has caught your eye? -What opportunities are we missing? You need to hire strong writer, no compromising there. But you should be able to glean their skill from their emails and their speaking manner. I’d only require a writing exercise if I were hiring for a junior role
