NACHC President and CEO Kyu Rhee, MD, MPP, on the short-term funding fix passed by Congress that extends funding for health centers and health care workforce programs through early 2024: “While we join our members in breathing a sigh of relief that Congress did not allow Community Health Center funding to expire on November 17, the repeated short-term funding extensions are disrupting the work of health centers to care for 1 in 11 Americans. We hope that this short-term agreement gives Congress time to reach a bipartisan agreement on long-term funding for health centers, including a much-needed increase in essential primary care funding, which saves lives and reduces overall health care spending.” Full statement: https://lnkd.in/e2K38K-V #HealthCenters #FQHCs

📩 In a new letter to Senators Roger Marshall and Bernie Sanders, NACHC expresses support for their Bipartisan Primary Care and Health Care Workforce Act: "Having a usual source of primary care is associated with decreased emergency department use, lower healthcare costs, and improved health outcomes. Health centers are part of the solution to fixing these disparities in access to care. NACHC is thrilled that the Bipartisan Primary Care and Health Care Workforce Act realizes the potential of health centers to improve access to primary care in communities across the country." NACHC appreciates that Congress included a temporary extension of mandatory funding for Community Health Centers and primary care workforce programs in the new Continuing Resolution (CR) preventing a government shutdown until March 8. The Senate is expected to vote on the new CR soon. Health center patients and providers urge Congress to pass a long-term extension of health center funding at the highest possible level as soon as possible to help close the gap in access to primary care. #PrimaryCare #HealthCenters #HealthEquity

Helping FQHCs, public health departments, and other health nonprofits win more grants, gain greater strategic clarity, and meet community needs. Writer. Facilitator. She/her.
It's Wednesday - the last one in February - which means it is a Health Center Day of Action! We only have until March 8 to persuade Congress to pass health center #funding. Your US House Representative and Senators need to hear from you TODAY about how important #communityhealthcenters are and how many of their constituents rely on them for their care! Community Health Centers strive to be comprehensive medical, behavioral health, and dental homes for all patients. However, data from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) shows that health centers could serve their patients more holistically if they had additional staff and resources. Estimates show that 12.3 million more health center patients could benefit from behavioral health services, but shortages of behavioral health staff are what is severely limiting access. Will you join our movement and call your members of Congress today to let them know that thousands of their constituents depend on a #bipartisan, long-term funding for health centers? If so, check out the link here: https://lnkd.in/g5_z2ZJe #valuechcs #healthcenters #fqhcs

Will #mobileclinics ultimately help or hurt rural health? More and more #rural hospitals are closing and care deserts are widening. Many #raredisease patients are relocating to urban areas for more reliable access to primary healthcare - or at least are seriously thinking about it. Mobile and pop-up clinics have tried to bring essential healthcare services into rural communities, fueled at least in part by the #COVID-19 #pandemic. But these mobile clinics come at a price, from a lack of trust and no ties to the community to increased competition for already-strained local primary care providers. Though-provoking article by KFF about the issue. https://lnkd.in/e-dzy6jc

Federally Qualified Health Centers serve 29 million people in the US today, according to the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC). They're anchors of their communities, and they deserve to be paid equitably, operate in the best way they see fit, and have power in the healthcare ecosystem to make their own choices. They deserve to focus on what matters most: Providing the best whole-person care they can to each patient in their communities. https://lnkd.in/g9ZFCTXT #fqhc #chc #valuebasedcare #healthcareinnovation

Advocates for Community Health (ACH) just concluded their 3rd annual member meeting. We were delighted to sponsor this event and support the leaders who are making a real difference in the communities they serve. While meeting with and hearing from political leaders, this group is truly living up to its name by advocating for community health. We love standing by this mission-driven organization! SyncTimes works similarly by supporting patients in community health centers. When a patient walks through your door to receive care, we want them to walk out having received quality care in a timely manner. We've created standardized operational practices that are easy to measure and lighten the load for care teams. Plus, administrators then have the robust data they need, to know how to make adjustments. When health centers use SyncTimes, their providers get more time with patients and can see more patients in a day. Patient satisfaction increases and the clinic thrives. #FQHC #HealthCare #HealthInnovations #BetterHealthCare #BetterHealth #ImprovedHealth #ImprovingHealthCare #HealthCareOrganization #HealthCareSystems

We recently celebrated National Primary Care Physicians’ week. PCPs are often the most overstretched and under-compensated physicians. They are the lifeline of health for their communities, weaving together individual and public health to educate and improve their communities. The week is a reminder to celebrate and support primary care physicians while advocating for increased funding, compensation, and resources for PCPs. How does your organization regularly support PCPs throughout the year? #healthcare #healthcareleadership #physicianburnout

Increasing investment in #primarycare delivers better health and increased equity for less cost. We need to act now to build an expanded #workforce with more clinicians and primary care team members. Every #MA resident deserves equitable access to high-quality primary care! Currently filed legislation in #MA aims to reform how #primarycare practices are paid, driving optimal and #equitable health outcomes, and significantly reducing unnecessary emergency department use and hospitalizations.
