Operation: Compensate Social Workers Fairly. As social workers, we invest considerable money in our profession. We pay various expenses to be eligible for jobs, such as fees for the State Board application, licensure exams, biannual licensure renewal, continuing education credits to maintain our eligibility for renewal and professional associations. Additionally, some social workers must bear the cost of two years of clinical supervision required for LCSW exam eligibility if their jobs do not offer it. Yet many of our jobs do not compensate us for the costs of maintaining the licensure they require. Social workers are essential in our society and should be compensated accordingly! #NASW #EmpoweringSocialWorkers

A significant disparity exists between the number of individuals experiencing #MentalHealth concerns and the number of people who seek help for those concerns. It's estimated that 19% of American adults currently experience a mental health issue, however, nearly half of those individuals do not seek treatment. One explanation for this disparity is the pervasive #stigma surrounding #MentalIllness and its treatment. This #ThoughtfulThursday article explores the extent to which exposure to social media posts derogating mental health treatment increases this stigma. 👉 https://buff.ly/3QXziZt #HealthComm #HealthCommunication #PublicHealth #Healthcare #SocialMedia

Do you have a need to discuss the #socialneeds and #emotionalneeds of your team, association, neighborhood or organization? One of my #careergoals this year is to seek out a #board position that I can apply my knowledge of: > community resources promoting #connection and preventative mental health outcomes > addressing impact of lack of #skills for self-cafe versus a depression and anxiety diagnosis > formulating or redesigning #dopamine mental states and novelty in over-stimulating environments > #destigmatization with creativity and inclusion

Empowering individuals, families, organizations, and communities as a Director, Qualified Supervisor, Psychotherapist, Counselor, Social Worker Consultant, Co-Worker, Volunteer, Husband and Father.
Clinical trained, Ethical, humane, culturally competent, resourceful, and even more medically trained in some cases. Our problem is the same problem our clients have, and we are very good at helping them solve it. The problem of accepting the status quo, the abuse, neglect, disrespect, and vicarious trauma as we CARE too much for the clients, the organization, etc. We need to CARE for ourselves more. We need to be less selfless and be a little selfish for our own sake and the next generations of social workers. We need Self-Care, Self-Love...We cannot truly help others love themselves if we do not know how to love ourselves. We need PRIDE in the work we do that often no doctor, nurse, attorney, and police want to do or know how to do. Change is possible but it starts with advocating for our ourselves more even if we make a lot of people uncomfortable and dislike us...I believe in YOU! Social Worker!
