Today, I bring you the humble supermarket trolley...bear with me here! Depending on your perspective, its a labour-saving device, a torture chamber for small children, a walking aid for those who need it, always has a wonky wheel and is guilty of many a carpark scrape. It's also something you probably don't think much about when you go to the supermarket. Yesterday, as I was returning mine to the trolley bay, someone asked me if they could take it as they were going in store (always one of life's little wins!), and our brief conversation went like this Lady - "Ooh, do you mind if I take that?" Me - “No, not at all, thanks!" Lady - "Isn't it lovely we can do this again?" Me - looking a bit bemused Lady - "Don't you remember all those months when we had to queue to get into the supermarket and trolleys had to be sanitised, you couldn't just hand your trolley over to someone then" Me - "You're absolutely right, and yes it is a good thing" Now, I appreciate there are concerns about the rise in the latest Covid variant, and I know that many people experienced and are still experiencing a myriad of traumas relating to that period of time, and I am in no way diminishing that. It is still important to collectively recall just how far we've come. This brief exchange reminded me that it's not all bells and whistles, sometimes progress can be found in the most mundane things... #thelittlethings #progress
