Friday Arts! Two Set is a couple of guys from BrisVegas – you know the words by now, the erupting centre of the Arts in Australia – who are doing some amazing stuff. Classical Musicians, they are challenging the paradigm of Fine Arts. Starting with crowd-funding a world tour… But we are not here to promote these guys, as much as we love their work. The real point is what they are doing and how they do it. Too many Australians (and I guess people everywhere) seem to think that the Arts are not for them. Because it is old and dusty, inaccessible, and seriously uncool. …Something that only The Elites do. But the guys at Two Set said “yeah … nah” and set out to Do the Arts differently… check out Australian Story on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Iview! Doing the Arts differently is also one of the two reasons for being of Springboard Opera. Re-imagining the arts is such an important conversation, for so many reasons… - The number of Australians involved in the arts in all its forms - The non-economic value that arts add… which is arguably more important than… - The economic value that the arts add to our country - The arts are and will remain relevant to C21 life everywhere. And like our mates at Two Set, the re-imagination is across the whole operation. Back office, technology, financing, on stage (if we use one…) – the r-word is in everything that we do and think. Our other reason for being is to support emerging opera artists, something that we think is closely tied up with the re-imagining idea. ‘Cos when Joe & Jane Citizen recognise the arts as relevant and value-adding to their lives, there will, in turn, be sustainable career paths for the graduates starting out on the journey.
