Poland's state-of-the-art BSL 3+ Laboratory is Now Operational! 🦠 🌟 A new Biosafety level 3+ laboratory is now up and running at the University of Gdansk and the Medical University of Gdansk. This classification reflects its dedication to researching the structure, function, and transmission of highly pathogenic viruses, such as the coronavirus or tick-borne encephalitis virus. 🌟 Given the inherent risks associated with handling live viruses in the laboratory, numerous safeguards have been implemented. These include a dedicated sewage treatment plant, specialized entrance locks, sterilization chambers, and a mandatory requirement to wear specialized suits. 🌟 I think that’s great that we now have the ability to study such viruses in a secure environment, right here at the local level!
