Unlike the many🥇 medals I’ve won before, this🥉 medal that I recently won means a lot more to me because it came from the motivation of expressing who I am. There was nothing I was seeking behind this performance. I wasn’t seeking the sense of achievement or the reassurance of being great. There are only two types of motivation: - The motivation to seek something outside of who you are. - The motivation to express who you are. The first is an illusion and is full of effort. The second is natural and effortless. As a founder and a leader, be motivated by the natural desire to express your creative self.

A couple days ago I recieved an email thanking me for my leadership and care shown towards an individual of my team. As a leader and manager, we need to remember some key notes; 1 - The success as a leader and manager (and business) depends on the team below him 2 - But the success as a manager and leader also dependent on the tools and experiences given to him or her by past and current mentors/leaders. 3 - Being a leader/manager can be a profession of isolation, coaching and mentoring (Fair, Just and allowing no Favouritism and ensuring that there are opportunities for growth and experience). 4 - Work Performance of an individual is dependent on skill, experience, health, family and social factors of not just themselves but also of the team around them. 5 - Look after the workforce and they will generally look after you. As a leader and manager if we have provided a safe environment where an individual has felt supported, connected, care for and given opportunities for growth and experience, then we have done our job. But as a leader and manager if we had also given the individual tools, passed on our experiences and given then additional foundation blocks to allow them to succeed and grow (in both career and personally) then we have done the right job. I am forever grateful for the teams and individuals that I have led, grateful for all the past and current managers and leaders who have influenced my own style and grateful for the HealthShare NSW team that I currently lead. My success and recognition is not mine, but yours.

Exciting News! I am thrilled to announce that I have completed my training and am now a Course Representative. Here's why I'm excited about this opportunity: Advocating for Voices: I'm passionate about representing my peers and ensuring their voices are heard on matters that truly impact our academic journey. Inspired by a Friend: Watching a friend serve as a course rep last year inspired me to take on this role. It looked like an incredible opportunity to make a positive impact. Enhancing the University Experience: My goal is to enhance the experience for my year at University. Additionally, I'll be using the volunteer hours towards completing the Employability Award, which is a fantastic bonus! Active Engagement: I'm committed to actively engaging with my peers. This includes representing their concerns at the SSLRC meetings and offering guidance to ensure they receive the support they need. Key Skills: This role will allow me to further develop essential skills such as leadership, effective communication, and active listening. A New Leadership Journey: While this is my first official leadership position, I'm eager to take on the responsibilities and make a meaningful difference. Collaborative Approach: The course reps and I have regular meetings to discuss common concerns, ensuring that we present a unified front in our mission. Looking Forward: I'm enthusiastic about the opportunities to initiate positive changes and improvements within the department. I'm excited for the learning and growth that will come from this experience. Why you should work in student-led communities? When I was motivating 1st year students to join communities, many of them asked me "Will we get paid to work in societies?" Although the answer might be an obvious NO, there are other perks rather than just money. Communities build confidence, leadership, management, relations and so much more. Some people join them to make new friends, industry connections and improve their social and management skills. I do it for different reasons. I was already skilled in all these things when I joined GDSC & MLSA. I did it to make impact. I did it so people would learn a thing or two. Who knows that one workshop might change someone's career trajectory and land them into an industry they love? The learnings might be of use when they are working in an office years later? Or a connection they made through community events might help them get a good job? This is why I DO IT. So people will have better opportunities. It's not a matter of getting recognition. This is the purpose of this post too. I might be able to shape someone's perspective about communities. Its not about impacting thousands, start small. It's a hybrid programme being offered through 4Front Pharmacy with Rachel Dungan, the Pharmacist Coach. This multi-dimensional programme focuses on 4Front's Path of Success model and will help them with creating a life and career path that make them proud to be a pharmacist without feeling lost and unfulfilled or giving up and leaving the profession as a pharmacist.
