Have you ever done a 360 assessment to learn how you impact people as you paddle through life? Quite simply, 360s are deep-dive structured tools for getting feedback from people who surround you. The results could validate your self awareness of your strengths AND open your mind to possible blind spots or unintended impacts you hadn't recognized before.
As an executive leadership coach, I recently administered EQ360 assessments for two female leaders. The results helped these leaders to hone in on some specific, highly impactful shifts to consider, and led them to tailor their relationships with different target groups, from employees to peers to board members. Both leaders stepped boldly into the feedback and deepened their self awareness, impacts and relationships!
Not sure you're ready or able to invest in a formal 360 review to ? Check out this short Paddle Your Own Boat video to create your own personal 360-ish process.
Happy paddling!
There are some great leadership lessons here demonstrated both by Andreas Seidl and Nico Hulkenberg:
Seidl:
- Giving direct feedback - being clear, direct, and straightforward (Hard Behaviour)
Because Nico mattered to him (seeing him as a person), Andreas felt compelled to give him direct feedback.
Hulkenberg:
- Embracing challenges and living consciously
Nico has learned to live consciously, to be open to life's challenges, and to embrace them. He has chosen to see it differently.
In Arbinger, we like to say: With an #outwardmindset, I understand that problems are the price of progress. I embrace challenges and obstacles as opportunities for growth.

I used to think Formula 1 was boring & I didn’t get it. But then what attracted me to F1 was how it’s all about mindset & leadership. Few lessons !
1- F1 drivers race & rest. What we do in our life? We race, then race again & again. F1 drivers need to be in their peak condition to win races and hence they take care of their body and mind. We don’t ! When you race you go all in, when you are tired, Rest!
2- Every single F1 driver has a performance coach. Coach is their support to keep them at peak. We think we can do it ourselves. The trick to get support is just by Asking for it!
3- Every F1 driver clearly establish their set routines. Their mood can’t determine how well they perform in the race. Their routine determines. Our mood shouldn’t determine how we perform in our business.
4- All drivers are in to win the race. They are not IN to just participate. If you are there to just participate you never win. When you mark your business deal, don’t just participate.
DRIVE TO WIN 😊

A few things about leadership, culture and performance - and a link to a beautiful example (though I wish it weren’t in such an environmentally damaging sector/business):
1. That “culture eats strategy for breakfast.” is well known…but led and implemented too little.
2. “Leaders model the cultural expectations though their behaviours and how they treat people and enable teamwork, not through the corporate statements about values and behaviours” - but rarely is this done v well.
3. If you’re interested in what currently looks like a great counter-example, have a read about Andrea Stella’s leadership at McLaren…
Williams F1 team have a new F1 Principle who has made improving team culture his priority instead of finding a tenth of a second faster lap time pace. #culture#leadership
I found this really refreshing as I'm strong believer in the "People First, Results Second". Meaning if you have the right team culture in place, results will occur organically and most of the time, will exceed expectations. #team#people#provenresultshttps://lnkd.in/grgiiUut
In my business, I strive to bring in top-notch A-grade players, recognising that not all team members are the same. It's important to reward high-performing A-players differently from B's and C's. Equal opportunity is vital, but equal reward isn't always fair.
Really want to hear your opinions on this one. Do you agree? Share your thoughts! 🚀
