End of an era! There are times in life when you are given the opportunity to do great things, and you have to seize it. This happened to me in April 2017 when Tide’s founder, George Bevis, and the CTO, Matt W., brought me in and gave me that life-changing opportunity. I will be forever grateful for that. But now, after seven years, the time has come for me to leave my baby blue, Tide 🙂. It was a hard decision, as I have been living and breathing Tide for the last seven years. I helped it grow from a tiny company of 25 people to a thriving organisation of aprox. 2000. We scaled our product, launched new offerings, opened offices in new locations, expanded our culture and global footprint, and achieved many more amazing things together. It was a true rollercoaster of emotions, with many failures (and learnings) but many more successes. I had a fantastic team (the best, really 😎) and incredible colleagues like Benjamin Petit, Tiago Bencardino and Samson Muhangi (and many others who are too many to mention in a post) who went above and beyond to help us achieve our vision. And a great manager, Guy Duncan who believed in me and pushed me outside my comfort zone. Although I am super excited about my unknown and uncertain future, it is a bittersweet feeling as I leave behind many friends, colleagues, and a great work culture. But I take with me a wealth of memories and lasting friendships that I will cherish forever and keep close to my heart. As for my next steps? I’m planning a good (and well-earned) break from work, taking the summer off to rest, reflect, reset, recharge, and restart. I have a pile of books to catch up on and a few courses I am eager to start (and finish). But more importantly, I am looking forward to spending quality time with family and friends under the sun and near a beach! How Vacation Pictures Relate to Founders Have you ever been on the receiving end of someone's trip to...(anywhere - fill in the blank)? Don't get me wrong - I love exploring, experiencing, and seeing new things. I love vecariously reliving other people's great adventures and seeing the highlights. What I'm referring to here is 3 hours of pictures and stories that don't make sense unless you were actually on the trip! The vacationer is SO excited to share! The enthusiasm never fades, even as you enter into hour 2 of non-stop stories. What does this have to do with founders? Just like our happy traveler, founders have an all-consuming passion for their product. While passion is crucial, it's equally important to remain objective. When the yawns and watch-checking fail to dissuade our vacationer from a cease and desist, founders fall prey to not "hearing" expert advice, customer feedback, or investor insights that would make their product better. The harsh reality: no product deserves to be on the market just as it is (yes, I'm talking to YOU!)—every offering can be improved. This isn’t just about tweaking a feature or enhancing functionality; it’s about continuously evolving with feedback, market trends, and technological advances. Engage with your users, listen to their feedback, and be willing to pivot or make changes. This is how a good product becomes great. I intend to assist with everything that is not related to engineering.   💡 What problem are you most excited to solve at Eyebot? Knowing how time-consuming and inconvenient it can be to update your prescription and get new contacts, I am excited to be part of a team that makes this process quicker, more convenient, and affordable. From my experience in my family’s factory, I learned that when launching a new product, you should expect that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. With an entrepreneurial and problem-solving spirit, I am eager to tackle these challenges. 🎧 It’s focus time. Headphones are on. What are you listening to? High-tempo and danceable music is the best way to start, continue, and end my day. For focus time, I prefer upbeat music with minimal lyrics, so most of my research in college was done while listening to EDM remixes. 🥪 What’s your favorite Boston lunch spot and what do you order? Sweetgreen's salads are my favorite summer lunch spot, and I love the Harvest Bowl with goat cheese. 🏖 What’s your dream vacation destination? Vacation for me is a combination of relaxing, exploring, and swimming in crystal clear waters. Greece’s endless blue is always a great vacation spot for me, but my dream vacation destination lately is Koh Phi Phi Don in Thailand.

Today is the last official working day of 2023, so it's about time to reflect on the milestones, challenges and achievements. Here is a highly personal, short and crisp month-by-month retrospective: 🤩 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆: Fresh kick off, huge ambitions, super enthusiastic after the successful exit in 2022. 🤔 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆: Various corporate events, getting in touch with the larger organization, starting to struggle - maybe this isn't the right place for me anymore?! 🐌 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: External events, touchpoints with customers, growing concerns about my personal impact in this now much larger (and slower) organization. 🙋♂️ 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹: Handed over to next generation product leaders and left Quentic. 🏍️ 𝗠𝗮𝘆: First month of a career break with a week of motorbike riding in Portugal. 🎉 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲: Highly emotional farewell party at Quentic where the complete C-level, including founders, stepped down. 📖 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆: Intense collaboration with Eva Hongyan Gao to revise and publish the 𝗕𝟮𝗕 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 (https://lnkd.in/eijrkKWk). 🏄♂️ 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁: Trying to improve my eFoiling skills and learning to jump -- which made me a more enduring swimmer 💦. 🚀 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: Joined Hygraph as their CPO, kick-off with an on-site of the entire Product & Engineering team. 👥 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿: Attended PRODUCTIZED in Lisbon, primarily to meet people in real life, not just Zoom calls. Feels a bit like an inflation of events. 📊 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: First board meeting as the CPO of Hygraph - even though I had been working with One Peak before. 🎯 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: Being with Hygraph for 100 days, shaping the strategy and building the plan for 2024 and beyond. As I wrap up this the year 2023, I'm really looking forward to what lies ahead. I'm genuinely optimistic about the future and can't wait to embrace new opportunities and experiences in the year(s) to come.
