🖤 IVY LEAGUE SERIES 🖤 We are so excited to present McKenzie Bauer in our monthly Ivy League series where we highlight outstanding female business and civic leaders among us — women of impact. Every woman wears a story, this is McKenzie’s Listed by Forbes in 2020 as one of North America’s 30 most powerful entrepreneurs under 30 years-old, McKenzie Bauer is the co-founder of Thread®. In 2015, she and her husband Colby raised $60K from Kickstarter to launch Thread. They started manufacturing slim and stylish wallets attachable to keychains, lanyards or phones. They now offer many other cool items like phone cases, bags, iPod carriers, lanyards and more. Thread is now sold in 2,000+ retail locations across the U.S. and has the objective of being the go-to brand for all things “carry.” As the founder, McKenzie Bauer is focused on building a company culture where she and her teammates can find a healthy work/life balance where people feel appreciated. “I want everyone to feel valued for their contributions and to feel like working at Thread® is their dream job because their physical, emotional, and financial needs are met.” Outside of Thread, McKenzie is on a mission to empower women to feel capable of achieving their goals, both in and outside the home. Her hope is that every woman she encounters will feel emboldened to start a business, take on a new hobby, pursue an education, run for office, or chase any other endeavor that brings her joy and accomplishment! “Women deserve to be everywhere important decisions are being made. I dream of a world where women and men can come together to break down the barriers that have historically held us back.”

I am inspired by my two daughters, Aniston and Coco. I want them to see me grow, build and thrive as a mother and a business woman. I want them to see that they don’t have to choose between being a great mother and a successful business woman. They can be whatever they want to be. I want them to know that being born a woman does not imply that they have fewer options or less opportunities. Utah Business Ivy City Co. Sepio Capital

Love this!
The best thing I saw on the internet was this video from the Paralympics. I loved this mainly for 4 reasons. 1. While watching her run you can almost feel all the challenges she has had to overcome to get where she is. Inspiring. 2. The “guide runner” reminded me how we all need help to stay on the right track and run our best race. 3. The amount of sacrifice required to win at that level pumps me up. 4. Seeing them celebrate together after winning may or may not have made my eyes water. Anyway, best thing I saw on the internet this week.
