Finally got around to finishing the Hack The Box CDSA (HTB Certified Defensive Security Analyst) path. Loads of information here and coupled with TCM Security 's PEH, the Windows defense material is INSANE for understanding common windows attacks. I would definitely recommend doing both the PEH and CDSA Active directory and windows defense portions to get more comfortable in attacking and detecting. A day in my life as a Junior Soc Analyst As a Junior SOC analyst, my day typically starts with reading my emails to catch up on overnight alerts and updates and checking my calendar for scheduled meetings and incident reviews. My primary responsibilities include analyzing phishing emails to determine if they are benign false positives or true positives. For endpoint detections, I rely on CrowdStrike, while Proofpoint and Duo security alerts are thoroughly investigated to ensure comprehensive coverage. Microsoft Sentinel aids in my alert investigations, and I utilize 0365 for data loss prevention (DLP) assessments. Blocking malicious senders and domains via 0365 using Explorer is part of my routine, as is using Rapid7 for vulnerability management to maintain our security posture. Additionally, I use EventSentry to investigate users' failed logon activities to prevent brute force attacks. These are just a few examples; additionally, I am currently working on some projects.

The Hack The Box SOC Analyst pathway to the Certified Defensive Security Analyst is awesome. Hands on training(or practice) with Threat hunting and monitoring tools, Elastic, Splunk, Yara, Zeek, and DFIR and malware analysis tools like Autopsy, FTK Imager, API Monitor, Velociraptor, MFT Explorer and x64dbg. Really enjoyed the material and challenges included in this path. Hands on experience == lifelong knowledge and skills. #lifelonglearningandgrowth
