I enjoyed spending the day at Reeth Agricultural Show on the Bank Holiday. We are thankful to those who came and showed an interest in the veichle and asked how Swaledale Mountain Rescue helps the community. It looks like we received some generous donations throughout the day. Next week, the new training season begins and I start my induction as a Trainee Member.

I recently attended the Swaledale Mountain Rescue candidate selection. I recieved news that I have been successful and the team has extended an offer to commence training with them in September. It's a volunteer organisation, and it takes two years of training and dedication to become a full member. After 1 year, if advanced to the next level, trainees become probationers and can attend live incidents and calls. I'm excited to begin the journey all over again, as I did with RAF Mountain Rescue back in 2015. Very grateful to SMRT for this opportunity! #volunteering #mountainrescue #yorkshire

I was asked to help out with a Drystone Wall project in Keld, up in the Yorkshire Dales. I didn't need alot to convince me and it was great to see how it's done! Took the opportunity to learn more about the area which is rich in history. It was a good workout to say the least and has earned me a decent homemade chippy tea! I'm tempted to do one of the courses in summer to learn a bit more. #volunteering #keld #yorkshiredales

I'm looking forward to joining the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team and their skilled dog handlers this weekend. After a long week at the desk, this comes as some much-needed time outdoors! Wishing you all a happy weekend! Please cross your fingers for some good weather for me and the other volunteers!

Pleased to share that I have completed my first year of university despite the challenges that came my way. Balancing my studies with a deployment to Iraq, transitioning to a new civilian career and some major personal difficulties was no easy feat. I am proud to have taught myself university level mathematics, whilst navigating those challenges, without a single late assignment and an average score of 85% across all modules! Now, I am excited to take a break from academic study and focus on my work and volunteering commitments. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way. #FirstYearComplete #ChallengesOvercome #ExcitedForTheNextChapter

Happy 106th Birthday 🎂
On this day in 1918, the Royal Air Force was formed as a separate Service, independent of the British Army and Royal Navy – the first time that any country had formed an entirely separate and independent air force. ✈️ 🫡 The new Service had its own ministry under a secretary of state for air. The ‘new’ RAF was the most powerful air force in the world with more than 290,000 personnel and nearly 23,000 aircraft, having fought effectively from April 1, 1918 over the Western Front in support of ground forces. 106 years later the dedication, professionalism and innovation upon which we were founded remains the same as we continue to fly and fight.

⛰️ Pleased to hear the news that Swaledale Mountain Rescue voted me in as their new Assistant Communications Officer. 📡 I'm eager to use some of the old skills from my RAF days - working on maintaining a small network that enables the team to carry our vital rescue operations in the beautiful swaledale. #volunteering #Mountainrescue #Communications
