Founder || Fractional CTO/CIO || Board Advisor Empowering Purposeful Technology Transformation through Innovative Leadership and Engineering Excellence
While others are talking about it, some are doing something about it. This is a global challenge, and while this scale of investment is not always possible - at any level, action speaks very much louder than words. More of this please… #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #actiontakers #leadership
We're making a historic commitment to fighting the national mental health crisis. An investment from a coalition of benefactors, foundations and other funders will: - Fund the creation of the new Veldman Family Psychology Clinic, which will develop scalable, evidence-based solutions in childhood trauma, suicide prevention and substance use. - Provide cutting-edge technology that will advance the University’s psychology and neuroscience research, including the implementation of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) technology. - Expand the number of faculty and triple the number of students conducting mental health-related research on campus. - Increase mental health services for Notre Dame students through a unique campus partnership among academic and student affairs units. - And, grow the availability of mental health care in the South Bend region The scope of these solutions is expected to have an impact well beyond campus and the local community — University leaders anticipate outcomes from the multidisciplinary work will serve as a future scalable model for other academic and public institutions: https://go.nd.edu/b01dbc

It’s hard to describe how much this course has impacted me over the past year! If you are considering it and have questions, please reach out to myself or the incredible Rae Martens.
Join the Azrieli Accelerator, in partnership with the One Child Every Child initiative, to learn about how to add your voice to health research through a dedicated Alberta cohort of the Family Engagement in Research (FER) course. #alberta #disability This cohort will bring together community members with lived/living experience and researchers who are interested in neurodevelopmental conditions (across the life span) or child health (with an emphasis on complex and chronic conditions, mental health, or neurodevelopmental disability). By the end of the course, learners will have increased their knowledge and confidence in family engagement in research and will be ready to apply what they have learned by partnering on family-centred research projects. Congratulations to NYU Professors Doris F. Chang, PhD and Dr. Linda Lausell Bryant on their new book "Transforming Careers in Mental Health for BIPOC: Strategies to Promote Healing and Social Change.” The book offers mentorship and advice for BIPOC healing, resistance, and institutional transformation, whether you are working in academia, clinical practice, industry, or the nonprofit sector. Thrilled to Share My First First-Author Publication! In the journey of science, there are milestones that not only signify progress but also shape the path we carve as researchers and individuals. Today, I'm excited to share one such landmark achievement: the publication of my first first-author paper. The study, titled "Examining Autism Spectrum Using the Attention Network Test: A Meta-analysis," has been published in the Review Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders. I originally wrote this manuscript back in the final year of my undergraduate studies and recently decided to revise and submit this work for publication. This publication represents not just a personal achievement, but the shared efforts and support of my mentors, co-authors, and peers. https://lnkd.in/gei-fe6g

Hear from RTI victimization and response researchers Jaclyn Houston-Kolnik, Hannah Feeney, and Rebecca Pfeffer as they detail the importance of developing trauma-informed research practices. When conducting research into sensitive topics such as the justice system, it is imperative that researchers treat participants and their experiences with care and remain cognizant of potential stressors introduced through the research process. Through intentional trauma-informed staff training, study design, and study implementation, research teams can ensure the psychological safety of participants and researchers alike. July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, an effort shine light on the unique challenges folks from marginalized communities face in accessing mental healthcare. But it's not just those seeking care who face challenges - those who want to provide care do, too. The same barriers that people from under-resourced backgrounds face in accessing care affect the pathways into these careers. This means that staff in the "helping professions" - nurses, social workers, therapists, psychiatrists, and leaders in these fields - often don't reflect the communities they serve. For someone seeking care, this can impact trust, mutual understanding, and, potentially, diagnoses and treatment. We spoke to over a hundred staff in these fields to find out why - from elementary school to professional careers - these gaps exist. Our findings lead to actionable steps that policymakers, nonprofit leaders, and others can take to fix it. Read more: https://bit.ly/4batmnu
