National Institute on Aging (NIA)’s Post

A new NIA-funded study found that personalized health coaching for dementia risk reduction improved cognition and lowered risk factors in older adults at increased risk. The team led a two-year study with 172 participants aged 70 or older who did not have dementia at the start of the study and had at least two dementia risk factors. One group was assigned personalized strategies, including meeting with health coaches, while the others had non-customized health education. Researchers found that cognition improved for both groups, and it improved slightly more for personalized participants.
