Payer contracts are negotiated with providers and updated on a regular basis. Updating a provider’s system with a new payer contract can take, on average, 3-4 weeks, even though the newly negotiated contract rates go into effect immediately. When providers post a payer’s contractual discounts up front, outdated contracts will lead to incorrect discounts being posted. Despite the payer’s payment being correct, based on the updated negotiated contract rates, a false credit will be created. This type of false credit can lead to incorrect refunds to the payer that will cause even more work for all parties involved. TREND recommends providers regularly review their process on loading new payer contracts into the pricing system to find opportunities for acceleration. Limiting the window of overlap between old allowances and new payment terms can reduce this type of false credits. #rcm #revenuecycle #revenuecyclemanagement #TrendingUp

The Idaho Industrial Commission’s migration to EDI Claims Release 3.1 will be implemented on 9/14/23, less than 30 days away. All EDI Claims files received after 9/13/23 must be consistent with the 3.1 EDI Requirements outlined in the various tables at iicedi.info. Beginning 9/14/23, Release 3.1 files may be submitted; however, acknowledgment files should not be expected prior to 9/22/23. Claims requiring ongoing reporting will migrate to Release 3.1 with a FROI/SROI MTC UR; this will include any claim reports currently filed on paper. As a reminder, if a SROI PY or SROI FN had already been filed prior to 9/14/23, but an amended report was requested but not received, these [potentially closed] claims will need to be migrated with FROI/SROI MTC UR. This process will not be necessary if outstanding issues are resolved prior to 9/13/23. #idworkerscompensation #idworkerscomp #idahoindustrialcommission #IDIC
