In 2023, of the 49 eligible disputes received by SIDREC, 40 or 82% of the total disputes received focused on market conduct issues, six or 12% concerned service standards and the remaining three or six percent related to the practices and policies of SIDREC Members. This trend reinforces the indication of a return to the pre-COVID-19 pandemic pattern, where market conduct consistently emerged as the primary issue in disputes received by SIDREC in any given year. -Page 58 Read our full Annual Report 2023 here: https://lnkd.in/gXKdgFbQ #SIDREC #AR2023 #AnnualReport2023 #disputeresolution

I'm thrilled to announce the publication of our research on optimisation algorithms for integrating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) into active distribution networks. This work represents a significant advancement in the field, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of renewable energy integration at medium and low voltage levels. Our study highlights the significant role of BESS in supporting renewable energy sources like solar PV and wind power. By addressing resource variability and intermittency, BESS helps make renewable energy more dispatchable, stabilising grid operations and enhancing energy reliability. We show how optimal integration of RES and BESS can provide essential grid services such as voltage support, feeder power flow control, and load management. This integration is key to maximising the hosting capacity of distribution networks and avoiding costly infrastructure upgrades. Focusing on medium—and low-voltage distribution networks, our work offers practical solutions for grid operators to meet the growing demand for renewable energy. This is a step forward in the global move towards a more sustainable and resilient energy system. As a co-author, I contributed narrative around how decentralised and hierarchical control methodologies optimise BESS operations. These methods not only reduce computational burdens and enhance customer privacy, but also ensure the effective management of distributed energy resources. Such algorithms enable coordinated control of distributed BESS using DER management systems, a critical aspect for peak demand reduction, energy arbitrage, and improving overall grid resilience.
