If my husband hadn't been told by insurance that he needed to "fail" all other available forms of treatment for his rare disease before they would approve the one known to be most successful and recommended by his doctor, maybe he would still be here and not gone less than a year after diagnosis. Instead, our daughter will walk down the aisle at her wedding without him just a week after the two year anniversary of his passing this fall. Change is needed.

This is a great topic of discussion. I have to go through barriers currently to get approvals for surgery for my rare disease.
