There are some big changes in NCAA D1 Hockey... It's a great time to learn more about NCAA D1, as it was confirmed that the NCAA will move to 26 full scholarships for men’s and women’s Division 1 hockey in 2025-26. They will also limit the teams to 26 roster spots max. This will have significant ramifications for programs currently carrying more than 26 players, or with large recruitment classes for fall 2025. Decisions will have to be made and that will lead to a lot of player movement and NCAA programs changing the number of players they recruit and how they construct their future rosters.

When preseason starts the first game of the regular season feels a million miles away ! Today we prepare to take on Charlotte FC in our 4th preseason game exactly 2 weeks until the Major League Soccer season starts! As a support team it’s important to take the time to reflect on current plans/ protocols. I like to evaluate current player/ team status, take the hard conversations early, be clear and transparent to define clear objectives, and make sure departmental goals! The next 2 weeks are all about building intensity through match play and will very vital to getting off to a good start, It’s therefore vital to use the time wisely and make sure departmental goals and objectives are aligned to the on field philosophy! #intensity #soccertraining #preseason #goals

Out of approximately 59,760 players from NCAA (D1-D3) & U Sports (Canadian Universities): 500 enter the NFL yearly (draft & free agents) 100-150 join the CFL 100-200 join the arena league This means only about 2% of collegiate players have the opportunity to play professional football each year between the 3 different levels. Warm-up for this first United Soccer Coaches 30 under 30 training session: 🔹4v4+3 Positional Play 🔹 Exercise Rules: Positional play exercise in two 20x25 yard grids marked out by blue & yellow cones. Each grid will consist of two teams of four players with three neutral “bumpers” aiding either team in the attack. A point is scored for every time the opposition team is able to connect a pass by splitting two defenders. Defending team is trying to prevent splitting passes, regain possession of the ball, and transition to one of the three neutral players to maintain possession. 🔹Notes: Opposition team utilizing a 1-3-1-4-2 system of play. Opposition team’s style of play looks to triangulate, combine via short passes, and exploit open space with a driven diagonal ball. Opposition team will look to switch the point of attack in order to break lines & exploit open space in the wide areas. Focus team utilizing a 1-4-2-3-1 system of play with zonal marking in their mid-block.
