National Women's History Museum’s Post

Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 National History Day Women’s History Prizes! This year’s theme was “Turning Points in History.” Avani Durvasula and Farah Hawks, students at Eastern Middle School, won first place in the Junior Exhibit category for their project chronicling segregation in the women’s suffrage movement. In the Senior Exhibit category, Iowa high school student and track star Anessa Morrison focused her award-winning project on Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to run in the Boston Marathon. Her display, “Running Towards Gender Equality,” was featured in the National Museum of American History alongside other prize winners. The National History Day Women's History Prizes are sponsored by the National Women's History Museum thanks to the generosity of one of our long-time charter members. We are proud to support these students and their schools in their efforts to learn about and share women’s history!
