Engaged & Innovative Ldr - MBA (UQ) - GCert Publ.Sec.Ldrshp (GU) - FIML ANZ - CAHRI - JP (Qual), ONO,
The issuance of a certificate of appreciation by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) was received as a gratifying acknowledgment. Engaged as a lead training facilitator preceding the referendum, my responsibilities encompassed the facilitation of training sessions aimed at instructing polling staff in the intricate nuances of the voting process and associated protocols pertinent to the referendum. Moreover, my involvement extended to scrutineering tasks during the referendum proceedings and subsequent phases. This engagement necessitated my presence at the AEC premises in Hendra, demanding after-hours and weekend commitments. Such involvement denotes a commitment to the democratic process and underscores the significance of informed participation in electoral events. For individuals harbouring an interest in the Australian electoral framework, opportunities to contribute to the electoral process may arise through future advertised positions. The multifaceted nature of electoral engagements offers a potential avenue for those intrigued by the dynamics of democratic exercises to actively participate and contribute to the electoral milieu. Key take away: This is what good public relations within the public sector looks like. #australian electoral commission,#publicsector #publicservice #hays #referendum #thevoice

As you may know, I am running for AOTA President and I am hoping for your vote and those of your friends and colleagues. If you were on the AOTA President zoom call, you are aware that this is one of the most consequential elections. You also know where I stand on several issues. One major issue right now is student enrollment and interest in OT. I have been more than an advocate for decades, something akin to an ambassador :) My overarching concern is our visibility and having our members participate in increasing our visibility. That helps with gaining more traction in communities to help with recruitment to the profession. Developing strategies to increase visibility will be my day 1 priority! We were asked several questions by AOTA, but also 3 from the zoom chat which were really interesting! I am more than happy to send you my answers to those questions. Hopefully, you will help me strategize and email YOUR colleagues with your endorsement. And I hope we can impress upon students how important it is to vote and maintain their membership after graduation. If any questions, please let me know ! Thanks in advance for your support.

It’s probably the most important vote that we Aussies will have in our lifetime. If you still don’t know what it’s about, check out this video that provides more detail on the process, the wording and what are both sides points of view. Based on current polling, historic referendum success rates, and divided arguments on both sides, I don’t have much hope in the YES vote getting through, which will be extremely disappointing. And that is because a NO vote means we won’t see any progress on voice, treaty, truth for decades. And the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will continue to suffer and fall behind in all of the things we white folks take for granted - health, education, standards of living, security, opportunity etc. The Voice proposed here might not be the perfect model in everyone’s view, but it at least provides the first in those 3 important steps in reconciliation. #yes23
The Voice Referendum will be held on October 14. Here's everything you need to know before you vote.
