#PioneersOnBoard - Leonardo Da Vinci. On April 15, 1452, Leonardo Da Vinci was born. One of his discoveries particularly changed our #future: the first ever concept of a mechanical submarine. At the time, it was impossible to actually build, but was not impossible to imagine. Da Vinci's innovation shaped our industry history so much that we named two of our submarines after him. The first #LeonardoDaVinci was built in 1940 and served under Regia Marina. The second has been the first Italian-built submarine since the postwar period to cross the Strait of Gibraltar underwater, under air and naval conflict. #FutureOnBoard #Fincantieri

Today we place the porthole in the underwater: Thanks to the collaboration established with Drass, we will contribute to the 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐲 Marina Militare FlySight collaborate with DRASS on the development of the Navy’s first Underwater Operations Centre A cooperation agreement has been signed between DRASS and FLYSIGHT for the development of underwater traffic control centres. As part of Olterra ship’s construction program dedicated to submarine rescue and underwater interventions, the development program for the first Underwater Operations Centre of the Italian Navy, based on an important industrial patent of DRASS, has been launched. In this context, in anticipation of an expansion of its installation across all serving units of the Naval Squadron, DRASS and FLYSIGHT have signed an important cooperation agreement for the development of new generation electronic cartography, georeferenced representation and management of seabed operations. Did you know that the UC-1 Twin Bee was a unique experimental aircraft developed by the United States Navy in the 1960s? It was notable for its twin-boom design, which provided exceptional stability and control, making it ideal for reconnaissance missions in challenging environments. Some interesting facts: The UC-1 has a fifth seat beneath the old installation, which means the single pusher engine is deleted. It has exceptional short take-off and landing capabilities. There is also reduced rear cabin windows, and each side of the rear of the enlarged cabin has a porthole-type window.
