🚨 Today, Aleph Farms has announced that Israel’s government agency has issued regulatory approval for Aleph Cuts, the “world’s first” #cellbased beef steaks.  Following a rigorous review process, Aleph Farms received the green light – the first ever for non-chicken cultivated meat anywhere in the world. #cultivatedmeat for petfood has been approved in the #UK ! 🐶🥩 Meatly will be able to sell cultivated chicken to manufacturers (after 18 months of consultations): a 1st concerning #petfood & also a 1st in Europe ! ➡ Lab-grown meat approvals are accelerating, after GOODMEAT first approval in SG in 2020. Since then, we got Vow, UPSIDE Foods and Aleph Farms. By the end of 2024, we're expecting other start-ups to launch in the UK (such as AlephFarms), while several applications are currently being revised in the US & SG. 🔜 Other countries should advance regulations, such as #SouthKorea (with Cellmeat and VITAL MEAT), #Switzerland (with AlephFarms), #Australia and #NewZealand (with Vow), and #Brazil (one of the largest meat producer worldwide). Another technology permitting the production of "animal protein", such as #molecularfarming is getting regulated. #Mycoproteins are also expanding rapidly (upcoming post there). ➡ Still mixed consumer acceptance of lab-grown products. ➡ Created in 2022, the Meatly raised a total of USD 4.5 millions yet, and partnered with OmniFoods (UK plant-based dog food company). Its final (premium) petfood product will be mixed with plant-based ingredients, and produced at small volumes, with larger volumes not expected before 2026-27. ➡ The start-up is looking to keep reducing its costs, raise capital, and scale up: key challenges for all start-ups in the field. In May, the company developped a protein-free cell-media which brought down the price tag from hundreds of pounds to just £1 ($1.25) per L. Please don't hesitate to comment if you got updates !

🚀Breaking News: Aleph Farms received the world's first approval for cultivated beef sale in Israel! This makes Israel only the third country to greenlight cultivated meat (after the US and Singapore), paving the way for Aleph Farms to introduce its Black Angus Petit Steak to diners soon. Israeli-based Aleph Farms is one of the leading cultivated meat startups worldwide, having raised over $150M in VC funding and having agreements with Israel and Singapore to scale its production. In Europe, Aleph Farms has bypassed the EU and headed straight to the Swiss and UK authorities to seek regulatory approval for its cuts of cultured beef. Currently, the Netherlands appears to be the most progressive country on cultivated meat in the EU by allowing tastings, while Italy has been the only country globally to ban it (pending EU approval).
