Hello, Do you think this law is fair, which does not allow me unemployment benefits? For many years, regardless of the type of employment contract I had, I was charged monthly for unemployment insurance. But now, when I am officially unemployed and counting on state help as a person insured against unemployment, I was officially refused, citing an article of the law that requires that for the last 3 years you work under a temporary contract. A fair question arises, what does it matter what type of contract I worked under for the last 3 years, temporary or permanent, if in any case the state collects contributions? Who can explain?

NEW: State lawmakers could use clean energy incentives in the federal Inflation Reduction Act to help shore up $2.2 billion in urgent funding needed for repairs at Florida prisons, writes FPI's Tachana Joseph-Marc. A 2023 report by consulting firm KPMG found that DOC faces immediate capital needs, including improvements to roofs, heaters and furnaces, water treatment, lighting, air conditioning units, and chiller/boiler systems. As noted in FPI's brief, state lawmakers have so far failed to implement common-sense criminal justice reforms, like modifying the “85-percent rule,” which has contributed to people spending more time in Florida prisons, and more taxpayer dollars being invested into incarceration. #floridapolicy #criminaljusticereform #cleanenergy #inflationreductionact #statebudget #floridabudget
