🎉 Rounding off the week with a long-overdue #FounderFriday #RealnessRoundup - bullet point edition! - Two new interns joined In Good Company this week so its been a busy time onboarding. We love getting new energy and skills into the team so feeling hugely grateful to CEA CAPA Education Abroad for introducing us to such brilliant talent. Felt especially grateful when I saw one of them edit a spreadsheet at lightning speed (would have taken me days!) Also lovely to get so much IRL time together as a team. Love remote working but nothing beats some actual face time. - The algo's have been showing me lots of very amusing founder memes about all the different roles we have to play, from pitching like a pro to stuffing envelopes and everything in between. Big focus right now on upping our workflows, automations and SOPs to make sure we deliver the growth without Sarah Kingston and I collapsing! 😂 And a great chat with 100DaysOfNoCode about potentially collabing for some expert support here... 👀 Process isn't always the sexiest stuff in a business but it really does matter. - That said, we totally sacked it off on Monday to do the much more fun marketing stuff instead! 🎉 So excited for some VERY beautiful new printed goods to be unveiled from our eco-printers soon.... And hugely grateful to Kirst Harris as always for creating such things of beauty! - Wonderful catching up with our partners InternMatch IRL yesterday and to hopefully bringing a new member of the team onboard very soon.... If you're an impact org looking for global talent I highly recommend. - BIG mid-week productivity dip with the unexpected General Election news! Been glued to the coverage - and Twitter, which was 🔥🔥🔥! I'll be carving out much more time over the next 6 weeks to get stuck in - personally as a citizen, as a Board Member of the UK Climate Lobby and partner of the Future Economy Alliance (dedicated posts to follow!) - Ending the week with a big commitment to take a proper long weekend off! I say this a lot but its impossibly hard as a founder to switch off, but I know we're so much better when we do. So in a few hours I'll be shutting the laptop and instead spending the time properly resting and recharging, with some socialising and lots of food thrown in for good measure. With the arrival of NO-CI, more firms are hiring a greater percentage of their summer associates outside of the traditional OCI and making faster hiring decisions with less information. So, how can firms prepare their entry-level lawyers in ways that set them up for both immediate success and longer-term, sustained development?    One way is to clearly define and consistently reinforce expectations. And that takes more than just words at an orientation. It was fantastic to attend the #CIMA Career Confidence event at Lancaster University last week, with a panel of experts sharing their experiences on advancing their careers in Finance. Although the advice given was for finance professionals, as a recruiter I took so much away from it that will help me in guiding the professionals I speak to every day. Here were some key takeaways: ⭐️ Show your personality through your CV. Consider how have you added value to businesses you have worked at through your passion projects. ⭐️ If you’ve joined a business and realised it’s not the right match for you, then have the courage to walk away, and find the role that is. ⭐️ Be curious. Build your knowledge through asking questions of those around you. ⭐️ Embrace technology. The roles within Finance are constantly changing with the advancement of software, and it’s best to lean into it and learn to utilise what’s available. That is the best way I can describe the last 48 hours at #atc2023 🎡🎪 To take the stage to speak (for the first time without a wedding band behind me) surrounded by the smartest people I've ever met working in and across the TA landscape, it is not lost on me that just 2 years ago, I had no experience at all working in Talent Acquisition. A HUGE thank you to Jo Vohland and her team for this opportunity, what you do and put on these last 2 days is nothing short of incredible. A forever thank you to my unpaid agents Lauren Sharp & Craig Watson, who have shouted my name at anyone who would listen since the ITA's, and opened more doors for me than I could actually pay them to do. And to Edan Haddock 🐟 who despite his jam-packed days of hosting, facilitating and all-around comedic duties - spent the entire last week cheering me on every chance he could. Take the chance, say yes to everything, and don't let failure intimidate you.
