Neuroscience literature shows that repetition is one of the best ways to form habits. Thus, it is crucial to develop the mindset that one small win will lead to another. Neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to change according to our experiences, slows down in adulthood. However, through intentional action (and repetition), we can tap into our brain's ability for plasticity to change our brains and support new learning and habits. #Psychology #Mentalhealth #Health #Brain #Neuroscience #Neuroplasticity #Repetition #Mindset #Habits

A new study explored what 6 months of social ballroom dancing and treadmill walking can do to our brains. > Both the walking and dancing group showed improvements in problem-solving skills. The participants also showed some noticeable changes to their brains. For Example: Dancing was protective in slowing down the loss of brain tissue in the hippocampus, a brain region that typically shrinks in Alzheimer's disease. Perhaps the real beauty of this study is that it was done in older adults (age - 76) and that participants only had to commit twice a week. This shows that it's never too late to start and that every little movement counts. #Psychology #Psychologist #Brain #Mentalhealth #Neuroscience #Study #Dancing #Walking
