NCEF joined U.S. Secretary of Energy Granholm, Rep. Horsford, and homeowners from Las Vegas on a panel to discuss strategies for reducing energy bills. We had the opportunity to meet the Howie family and talk about the benefits of a home energy audit, which is an excellent first step toward identifying upgrades that can lead to significant savings. We're committed to helping families across Nevada make their homes more energy-efficient and reduce their energy costs. #SolarForAll #CleanEnergy

Learn how the On-Bill Repayment (OBR) program makes home energy upgrades accessible, and affordable for those in our participating member communities: https://lnkd.in/gWZ3p3Mm “This program will help improve the lives of our members through energy-savings and increased home values,” added Eric Eriksen, M.B.A, P.E., chief executive officer for San Luis Valley Rural Electric / Ciello in Monte Vista, Colo., the first Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. member to offer the On-Bill Repayment Program. “I know this to be true because I’ve experienced the positive impacts of a similar program first-hand in Alaska.” Colorado Clean Energy Fund, as a third-party, provides the upfront funding for energy upgrades and installations, and the “repayment” or recovery of CCEF funding occurs over an agreed-upon timeframe, collected through the participant’s monthly energy bills. Zero Homes is the operating partner for the program, providing digital assessments to educate homeowners on opportunities to improve the comfort of their home, save on their utility bills, and help them easily move through the installation process. #ElectrifyandSave #EnergyEfficiency #HomeUpgrades #Colorado

Last month, BCSE joined the summer meeting of the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL), New England’s broad-based and diverse stakeholder body for the region’s review of proposed reforms to ISO New England Inc.’s competitive wholesale market rules and transmission tariff design. BCSE President Lisa Jacobson led a panel discussion on the state of the #energy industry and highlighted the findings of the #SustainableEnergy in America #2024Factbook, which is produced annually by BCSE and BloombergNEF. Tara Narayanan of BloombergNEF shared the Factbook's key takeaway: the #cleanenergy transition thrived in 2023, boosted by strong federal policies like the #InflationReductionAct (IRA). The Factbook is the go-to source for valuable year-over-year data and insights on the American #energy transformation. Featuring the latest data on the progress of the #energyefficiency, #naturalgas, and #renewableenergy sectors and more, the Factbook can be downloaded for free at bcse.org/factbook. A suite of panelists - representing BCSE's three industry sectors of energy efficiency, natural gas, and renewable energy - shared insights on the future of IRA investments and the importance of supporting underserved communities by maintaining energy #infrastructure. Thank you to Sapna (Gheewala) Dowla of the Alliance to Save Energy, Anthony Fratto of the American Clean Power Association (ACP), and Rob Mosher of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America for sharing your industry perspectives! BCSE looks forward to continuing to share the findings of the Factbook and industry perspectives across the country this year. Thank you to Sarah Bresolin Silver and Sebastian Lombardi for the opportunity to address NEPOOL'S influential group!

If any of my contacts are debating home improvements for reducing energy usage I would recommend now factoring in the Demand Felxibility Service: https://lnkd.in/gDaa5Wiv In the last event I managed to earn £20 and help balance the grid removing demand from Gas Power stations, there were over 20 DFS events last winter so this should help lower the ROI on my solar panels and battery. It's going to be interesting over the next 24 months to see how this disruption plays out but the technology is already having an effect: https://lnkd.in/g_sgYYrF For those friends lucky enough to live in Scotland there are grants and interest free loans for the improvements: https://lnkd.in/gRWKWpm7 Having recently moved to England I had to take a personal loan but the repayments are half of what our bills were prior to the improvements and after a few years will be paid off.

Pretty balanced piece by the AFR unlike some of the completely bonkers stuff from the likes of Andrew Bolt (I wont bother linking to it but wow, just wow). No energy source is perfect and we need a combination of resources to make the energy system work. Coal tripped off on Tuesday, so did renewables. Hydro jumped in to fill gaps as did gas. In the future, a combination of rooftop PV, community batteries and some smart control systems might give some communities the ability to isolate from the main grid and self supply for a period of time (or participate in a form of demand response like large industrials did). People always go to their pet solution as the silver bullet but the truth is all of it should be on the table and most of it could play a role in the future. Finally, my good friend Gavin Dufty from StVincentdePaul is rightfully concerned about the cost to consumers of fixing this mess. Here is an idea, the Victorian Government collects over $500M (not a typo) from Victorian energy users from the Easement Land Tax. It's a ridiculous stealth tax that should have been scrapped years ago. How about that gets put into a specific fund to assist vulnerable Victorians deal with these situations, help communities become more resilient and fund network hardening and/or expansion.
