Why is Marxism taught at UW? It is an ideology of hate that promotes violence, class warfare, dictatorship of the proletariat, treating humans not as individuals but as members of a class. No country has benefited from Marxism. Marxism is responsible for 200 million deaths in the 20th century. The University of Washington should not hire Marxists for the same reason they should not hire Nazis. Can someone please explain what is going on at UW?
Celebrate the outstanding 2024 UW Awards of Excellence recipients who are being recognized for achievements in teaching, mentoring, public service and staff support. The awardees will be honored at a ceremony in Meany Hall at 3:30 p.m. on June 6. It’s important to aim for the stars, so that we land on the tree tops. A “little Julia” story (check out my first LinkedIn post for reference): Like every other child, every time before going to sleep I would daydream about my future. I would make up all sorts of happy and funny events. However, there is one dream which always stood out to me. It is not a happy daydream. Not a daydream we would expect a 10 year old to have. It was a stressful dream…but, also exciting. In my dream, I was stuck with choosing between the two best universities in the world. Each one was fighting for me. I remember the following days, I kept debating and arguing with myself over which one I would pick, and why… You might wonder why I would choose to add another stressor in my life. Why I would choose to waste my time stressing about a fictional situation, when real challenges, those of reading, writing and staying in school, had not yet be conquered. In my 10 year old mind, I wanted that future so much I was willing to make it my current reality. Which motivated me. Made me creative in my thinking and strategy. No one could tell me I wasn’t good enough, because in my world I was being fought over by the best. In October 2023, I started my second degree at Imperial. Supported by incredible professors and peers, I have been exploring the field of Surgical Robotics. Back then, we were ranked 6th in the world. Yesterday, Imperial College London was ranked second in the world. The best two institutions might not be fighting over me… yet. But I am attending the second best university in the world. In some ways, I feel like I have accomplished the essence of that dream. I am proud to be part of and contributing to, the thriving Imperial community.
