The courage to enter into a career field that took your father's life, or that took your father's mobility and all of the childhood memories you would have shared had they not been paralyzed. That's a heavy decision. Glad to see the officers are progressing and moving up in the world of the NYPD. Reading the articles and seeing the old, low quality, and likely few photos available of these Officers when they were children with their father Officers reminds me of a conversation I had recently with another LEO. How lucky are we to have modern cameras and camera phones to capture memories. Yes, smart phones are terrible for society as a whole, but our children will have thousands of photos of them with their parents for posterity, whether met with the end of a long life, or an untimely end like these Officers' parents. It's cheesy and corny, but I tell LEO friends all the time to take as many photos as you can (within policy and best practice) on operations, at training, after hours, at the academy, etc. It may not be macho and seem cringy, but you likely won't remember those moments when you're 67, and it's an absolute guarantee your children and family won't remember moments they weren't there for if you don't capture them.

I worked and walked the beat many times with Steve during our NSU days . He was a great fella . Excellent athlete for on our off days we played ball in the park by the old police academy. He could hit a ball a country mile. Steve was extremely brave , a role model for us all. Very Best of the Finest . The apple didn’t fall far from the tree . Congratulations Conor!! Well deserved Be safe
