Food companies all but stopped offering discounts during the pandemic. Now sales are back, but you're forgiven if you haven't noticed -- grocery shopping and eating out are still far more expensive than they used to be. “I almost had a heart attack the other day when I saw a box of cereal for $8.99,” one consumer said. “I was like ‘Does that come with a gallon of milk too?’ ” w/Heather Haddon

$8.99 per box of cereal is not so bad. It might prompt people to rethink what they are eating. Cereal has no nutritious value and should not be on the shoping list. I agree that Wray we should be eating became very expensive and out of reach for many consumers. Especially when we talk about organic food, grass fed animals, pastured, and wold caught fish.

My pet peeve is when they lower the price however they provide less! Some examples, you ask? Thomas' Bagels give you one less bagel if it is a "seasonal" flavor. An oldie but goodie, Do you remember when we used to buy 5 lbs of sugar(for you bakers)? Now its 4 lbs at the same or slightly lower prices! We are not stupid but we cant grow our own sugar cane or coffee beans(most of us) so we "bend the knee" to these companies. I would love to know how much the growers get paid.

Right!? We get bagged cereal and that’s almost $8 a bag. Before 2021 I spent $150 a week on groceries for our family of 5. Now it can get close to $400 a week. Makes me sick. I buy basic stuff, nothing organic.
