Americans love their big name brands, always have and many say always will. But with food prices still way up from pre-pandemic levels, store brands are gaining ground. From Chips Ahoy cookies to French’s mustard, shoppers are passing up name brands foods as retailers boost investments in their own labels. Will it stick? https://lnkd.in/g8qJ2FvR

This is the price of excessive government spending that is diluting the value of the dollar. Each dollar buys less. It doesn't matter what you are buying. So people are looking for ways to not spend as much. This is all caused by increased government debt, which adding trillions of dollars into circulation each year. The US is circulating vastly more than it ever has before and there is no sign that this is going end. Pre-pandemic prices are now just a point of comparison or reference for future prices and those prices will not be returning. We are at the beginning of the great inflation, not the ending I'm afraid. I grew up in the 60s. A gallon of gas cost 25¢ and a quarter was 90% silver. The government then, as it is now, was excessively printing money. The value of money was cut by changing coins from 90% silver to 40% silver, then to zero percent silver. The government had printed so much money that it had to go off the gold standard. Now the government is looking at taking Nickel out of our nickels. That inflation run went from early to mid 60's into the early 80's. Those early 60's prices never returned. The solution for you and me is to be as productive as we can be while watching you spending.

Soda cost almost $10 a 12 pack. I only buy soda when it is a buy 1 get 1 sale. Which ever brand. And that's pretty much how I shop for most food now. I go through the ads on the app compare the buy 1 get 1 price to walmart and decide where I will buy. I pre order now so I don't go in the store and compulsion buy. And if I do go in the store I stick to my list.

Aldi prices are the best around as well as Trader Joe's. I only go to Publix for BOGOs.

I buy store brands for many items but nothing can beat Heinz ketchup so that is our splurge. Groceries are ridiculous and need to become affordable again!

Some of the "store brands" are fine but some not so much, I can taste the difference. Winco grocery, Kroger/Fred Meyer have increased this trend, and eliminating my regular brands and placing theirs in it's place.

Not pre-pandemic levels.  Pre-Joe Biden levels.
