I have decided to kayak the full length of the iconic River Shannon this summer with my mate Ray Carolan to raise funds for A Lust For Life schools programmes to help our youth with their mental health. 400 km of kayaking with zero experience but a lot of stubbornness. 7 days to do it. Youth mental health is my core passion. We have now reached over 1000 primary schools , over 50,000 students. We need to get a sponsor to support us so please share with any business or organisation that would consider coming onboard for the project #mentalhealth #project #charity

Well done Niall. Reach out to the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland (www.Iwai.ie) branches for boat support. The members, where they can, are happy to provide boat support for charity events like this. There are also a number of kayaking businesses along the Shannon that I’m sure will give you ground support. An opportunity to have a rest stop or shelter from a squall. 7 days to do it is a mighty challenge. Best of luck. Msg me if I can help.
Great Niall have helped a few swims down Shannon on same mission. Please get rapid support cover for the bigger lakes Allen, Ree and Derg. There's a bunch of Orca swimmers in Lanesborough I'm sure will Pod swim ye through that bridge and onwards...they are amazing!! Re Sponsorship... Waterways Ireland might be good to tackle. Any industry on Shannon eg Masonite also... doing a Gold, Silver, Bronze Sponsorship as well... with an amount targeted at each would also be a good approach as smaller companies and independents such as myself would be happy to sponsor ...so options for all. IWAI members and branches also could be tackled for a bit of bigger comfort boat support on lakes as well as the Civil Defence for rapid response if weather unfavourable... both supportive of these endeavours. This is approach taken for the swims mentioned. IM is you need more info... on experiences . The river is amazing... and you will meet some amazing friends along the way... Best of luck .
Some people talk the talk then there's those who walk the walk. Best of luck Niall I admire people that make things happen especially for such a great cause..
Fantastic initiative Niall (and lovely to see Lough Lene Co. Westmeath in the background, where I spent many a happy summer learning to swim and where I am now learning SUP and taking my kiddos there to waterbomb off the diving board/ swim!)
Brilliant Niall Would be great to see Fáilte Ireland #irelandshiddenheartlands get involved? See you in Lanesboro at some point.
If you plan a stop off in Garrykennedy or Dromineer please let me know and we can organise a fundraising evening! You will be fine. Kayaked in northern Spain for tge first time last summer…. A truly amazing experience!
Ruth Vaughan Cllr Olivia O'Sullivan opportunity to have some event when the kayaks come to Limerick…
